Description:
Chateau du Prieure des Mourgue Grand Reserve St-Chinian AC from France, Languedoc-Roussillon, St-Chinian by Des Vignobles Roger Powerful Reds (12 x 75 cl)
A mature wine displaying the evolved characters of stewed plums, apricots and raspberries and is delightfully spiced by some oak. Smooth yet with dusty tannins this is a fine example of traditional St-Chinian that will partner a wide range of savoury dishes. (12 x 75 cl)
From a small co-op in the heart of the Languedoc, this scrummy red is a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Black Carignan with spicy, concentrated blackfruit flavours, a hint of liquorice and a touch of tannin for a grippy finish. (12 x 75 cl)
Alain Jougla, whose family can be traced back as owning the property since 1595, must be one of southern FranceĆs superstars. The property lies between 95 and 107 metres above sea level in a hot dry Mediterranean climate, 2/3 of the vines situated on foliated shale rock and the remainder on alluvial clay soil. The vineyard is planted mainly with Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah, with some Carignan and Cinsault. The cellar is modern and immaculate. M. Jougla uses a pneumatic press and then ferments his wines at a temperature of 28C, the cuvaison lasting between 15 and 20 days, using a combination of both cement and stainless steel tanks. The wines are matured in foudres (12 x 75 cl)
Organic. Wonderful, vibrant herbal and perfumed nose that is so typical of the region. On the palate, a deep, spicy, tangy wine with good balance and length. (12 x 75 cl)
Dark colour with purple hues the nose has vivid aromas of toast, coca, coffee, black olive tapenade, blackberry jam and pepper. Full, well rounded and pleasing, the palate combines strength and sweetness and should be decanted before serving. Acquired in 1850, Chateau Dournie has been the property of the Etienne family for more than 6 generations. Vine growers, by tradition, this impassioned family are serious about producing quality wines. By exploiting their geological diversity they produce vintages of great personality and aromatic delicacy. (6 x 75 cl)
The centuries of grape cultivation in this area has inspired this producer to believe they can grow the fruit to make the great wines of today. The result is a well made red that is concentrated, showing complex aromas and flavours of dark forrest fruits and spice. Produced from biodynamic techniques the fullbodied style is well defined by the rich tannins on the lengthy finish. Chateau Combebelle is a 20 hectare property in the St Chinian appellation, here they grow Syrah and Grenache in a unique site at 280m above sea level on deep red clay soil. Chateau de Combebelle is owned by comte cathare and their main objective is to cultivate their vineyards with absolute respect for the environment so that their wines may express as naturally as possible their origin. They seek to preserve their local eco systems in as natural as state as possible, researching ways of allowing their vines to establish natural defences against their different predators. Here they feed the vines compost, made on each of their farms according to the Biodynamic principles, to ensure the soil is nurtured with live matter. (12 x 75 cl)
