The Chave family have been growing vines for over 500 years and recently Jean Louis has taken over the family business. Produced from mature vineyards this is a deep, dark, meaty Syrah with real black fruit character and power. (12 x 75 cl)

Jean-Louis Chavy created his own domaine in 2004 with 6.5 hectares, including a good range of premiers crus. In his spotless winery he vinifies and ages his village wine in 15 to 20% new wood, and his premiers crus in a maximum of 30% new wood. These are excellent wines which display finesse and crisp minerality (12 x 75 cl)

Smoky, round, full and buttery style the wine lover can tell from aromas alone that these wines are classic white Burgundies. Without the overly forward candy/fruit character of New World wines, these Chardonnays are made to drink with dinner. This is a classic steely Puligny, with only a little oak to influence the flavour the fruit comes to the fore in this wine. A nose packed with white flowers, honey and pear, in the mouth the attack is dry and rich with a good citrus finish. Well suited to good quality seafood! The wines of the Courbis estate are some of the most compelling examples of St-Joseph and Cornas being made today. The Courbis brothers have combined their long family experience with a modern style and this has earned them international recognition. Robert Parker sums it up in his book on Rhone wines: 'Courbis is a name to watch in the Northern Rhone.'
