This wine was specially produced in the area North East of Lisboon, a region crossed by the River Tagus. The rivers peaceful creeks have been enjoyed by the discerning Fishermen for Centuries while the perfect climate and soil have created a unique wine as full of character and life as the river itself. This is a wine to enjoy from one of the up and coming wine regions of Portugal. Showing a lovely soft aroma of tropical fruits that develop through to the enjoyable lingering finish. (12 x 75 cl)
From the DFJ stable of wines, the winemake Jose Neiva has produced a wine that is dry and full bodied. The objective of DFJ is to promote Portuguese wines that use the traditional varietals. Using perfectly ripe Fernao Pires grapes have given this wine an excellent balance of mouth filling apple fruit and refreshing, crisp, lemony flavours.
Perhaps the model Bairrada property, Casa de Saima has ancient vines, harvesting by hand, treading by foot and subsequent fermentation in lagares. This precedes ageing in 100 year old casks for the red wines, while the white wines are fermented in stainless steel, and rarely see oak. One of the most well known producers in the area Graca Miranda winemaker and owner currently farms 20 hectares, split across 12 plots, including half of the famous Vinha da Corga vineyard. A reflection of the terrior this wine is dominated by the Baga grape with a little Tinto Pinheira as well. This has produced a lively red coloured wine full of juicy cherry and raspberry fruit with a very savoury, earthy edge. The good acidity and dry tannins complement the finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Saima's Reserva's are powerful, sinewy wines, which gradually open out to offer wonderful complexity. The powerful berried notes, enveloped by tannin and acidity give way to an enjoyable finish.
