Description:
The Domaine Hubert Lignier has long had a reputation for its fine wines known for their concentration, depth and structure. The domaine owns 8 hectares of vineyards in the villages of Morey, Gevrey and Chambolle with all the wines now bottled at the estate availability is quite limited.
Chemical pesticides are used only when absolutely necessary, so that they do not harm beneficial insects, and the Selection Massale system of replacing missing vines is used with cuttings from the same vineyard - which is a tradition that gives an extra touch of complexity and character to the resulting wines.
At harvest time, the pickers remove any unhealthy clusters in the field, to avoid contamination of the healthy grapes in the baskets. The wines of the village appellations usually spend between 18 months in barrel while the Premier and Grands Crus remain in cask for 20 to 24 months before being bottled, all without fining or filtration.
Good full red coloured wine with aromas of smoky red fruits. Sweeter and more perfumed in the mouth; at once firm and fat, with red fruit and mineral flavours. This is a highly concentrated wine that is firmly tannic with persistent length on the finish.
