Domaine Courbis CHAMPELROSE Cornas
Youthful deep purple colour. Intense, rich spicy nose is dominated by raspberry fruit. Tasty, rich savoury palate shows good concentration and nice balance. Youthful and quite tannic. Very good/excellent The wines of the Courbis estate are some of the most compelling examples of St-Joseph and Cornas being made today. The Courbis brothers have combined their long family experience with a modern style and this has earned them international recognition. Robert Parker sums it up in his book on Rhone wines: 'Courbis is a name to watch in the Northern Rhone.' Courbis wines regularly receive rave reviews in Wine Spectator, International Wine Cellar, The Wine Advocate and Revue du Vin de France. (6 x 75 cl)
Domaine Courbis CHAMPELROSE Cornas
Domaine Courbis dates from the 16th Century and has been handed down from father to son since the start of the 20th Century. Today, Brothers Laurent and Dominique Courbis own 20 hectares of vines in Saint-Joseph. Wines from the northern part of St Joseph are more structured and riper than those from the sandier soils of the south. This wine was produced from a 1.1 hectare vineyard situated on granite terraces with an exceptional microclimate from 9 year old vines. Matured in 1 and 2 year-old oak casks to produce 'vin de garde'. Producing powerful wines with a world wide reputation, Domaine Courbis is estimated to be one of the best producers in the area and this is a lovely example of a full-flavoured Cornas. The vines were planted in 1913 and are situated at the foot of the slopes, once in the winery vinification is in stainless steel followed by cask maturation for 2-3 years. (12 x 75 cl)
