Moist conditions during spring caused higher incidence of fungus diseases. Strong Black South-Easter in November caused poor berry set in some areas of Stellenbosch and this caused crop losses. Low night temperatures prevailed in January and February and this gave us good natural acidity. Rain during March threatened to spoil the Cabernet but a rigorous selection and a yield of approximately 8 tons/ha ensure the high quality of this wine. A deep ruby red colour. The typical strawberry flavours of the Pinotage combine with the intense carnation flavours of the Cabernet, without one dominating the other.
