Founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto in 1880, Casa Ramos Pinto rapidly became noted, at the time, for its innovative and enterprising strategy. Aware that the quality of its wines were confined to the terrior of the wine producing Douro, Casa Ramos Pinto meticulously studied the Demarcated Region of Douro and eventually became the owners of a number of estates with very special characteristics. The objective was to ensure the control and quality of the whole production process. By perfecting its wines, Ramos Pinto created unique nectars with its own signature and in 1990, Casa Ramos Pinto became part of the Roederer Group that has enabled it to develop and promote its wines to the international market. Duas Quintas is a blend of grapes from two very special Ramos-Pinto vineyards. Quinta da Ervamoira lies in a rocky, low altitude area on the banks of the river Caa. Here the grapes grow to full maturity in the hot, dry weather, contributing density and body to the blend. About 20 miles away lie the granite-filled vineyards of the Quinta dos Bons Ares. Situated at a higher altitude, the grapes here derive fresh aromas and lively flavours from the cooler growing conditions, adding lively vivacity to the finished wine. The colour of this wine is an intense brilliant ruby red, while it has floral and fruity aromas that are fine and elegant with fresh fruit such as grape and cherry evident, as well as a hint of vanilla. The wine has a fresh and aromatic attack, while the good acidity is set against the soft but lively tannins. Full-bodied and smooth, with a very fruity taste of cherry and blackberry, as well as a slight vanilla note at the end, the wine's finish is fresh, well balanced and persistent.. (12 x 75 cl)

This wine is a blend of Touriga Nacional grapes, with a small proportion of Tinta Barroca. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for six months in new oak casks and then bottled at Bons Ares, where it matures for another two years. The wine is an intense red with plum and cherry tints. On the nose, the aroma is strongly intense, revealing all of its potential at once. It is refined in the beginning with ripe plum and fresh fig. It then develops walnut, resins and pepper notes with hints of wood and mint at the end. On the palate, the attack is fresh and elegant, while it is soft and velvety with tasty bursts of fruit. The wine is full-bodied with fresh fruit such as cherry and grape and excellent tannins, but not too astringent. The wine develops well on the palate with perfect balance and long persistent finish. An intense dark red coloured wine with red fruit aromas. Spicy and mature the oak is evident with a touch of vanilla in this intensely flavoured wine. Good acidity gives this wine balance in the mouth while there is a harmony between the sweet powerful fruit and the tannins. (6 x 75 cl)
The LBV 1995 shows an intense red colour, almost opaque, with garnet hues. The aromas are complete and full of powerful ripe fruit with notes of black plum. The wine is full-bodied with oaky nuances, promising excellent bottle ageing. On the palate, it is fresh, velvety, spicy and lively. Hints of anise, black plum and raspberry are backed up by a soft tannic structure. This is a tasty wine with a nice long finish. Enjoy the wine's vivacity and fruitness now, or lay down to improve quality. A late-bottled vintage port is a single-vintage blend that has been aged four to six years in oak casks, unlike a vintage port which ages only two years in wood before bottling. As a result of this extended wood contact, LBV ports have mature, fruity flavours at a younger age, offering much of the character of a vintage port without the wait and at a lower price. (6 x 75 cl)
1983 was a classical vintage year. It was characterized by a fairly dry winter, followed by substantial spring rains to balance out the growing cycle. Temperatures were moderate, resulting in grapes of especially high quality. Amazingly intense cherry color, with concentrated aromas of black currant, cassis, cherry and blackberry. Fresh and fruity in the mouth, with great structure and seductive balance. Luscious and built to last! (6 x 75 cl)
The Ramos-Pinto Superior Tawny is a deep brick-red color gained from its extended sojourn in oak. Intense fruit aromas greet the nose, with full secondary aromas evident. The first impression is light and hot, evolving into a rich smoothness gained from wood aging. Ready to drink upon release, this is a well-matured port, fruity, with a fine flavored, dry finish. (6 x 75 cl)
Color: Beautiful violet shades still opaque as the wine is in its first stages of maturation. Nose: Elegant floral notes with hints of rose and black cherry. Palate: Smooth, well-balanced attack. Robust tannins endow the wine with hints of ripe fruit, showing plenty of promise for good aging. Serving Suggestions: This wine is best served after standing upright for at least two hours and decanted. Best served with cheese at the end of a meal. The 1997 vintage is a wine of complete ripeness, good acidity, tannin and concentration. The growing season consisted of a sunny winter, adverse weather in spring, and favorable, sunny growing conditions in summer. While there were some weather difficulties, Ramos-Pinto fared well. The 1997 vintage will start to reach maturity in 10-15 years (12 x 75 cl)
