Description:
The Bouachon family have maintained their stewardship of some of the finest wines in the Rhone since 1898. Maison Bouachon selects the finest terrains of the Rhône Valley for its wines, and for more than a century has enjoyed privileged links with the wine producers of this appellation. Facing the hillsides of Hermitage, spread over 40 kilometres, the vineyard of Saint Joseph is the largest on the right bank of the Northern Rhône. The terrain of Roquebrussane, given this nickname in the region to mean brown rock, is formed of steep shaley hills (dark rocks), enjoying exceptional sunshine and low yields. The vineyard has one single variety the fine-grained syrah (100%) of the North of the Rhône Valley that is very concentrated and aromatic. A fine robe of intense purple and a fruity bouquet of raspberry and blackcurrant, developing on notes of Underwood are the first things you notice about this wine. Full-bodied in the mouth, with aromas of ripe fruits, gingerbread, white pepper and tobacco, it has remarkable length in the mouth, developing into tertiary aromas of mint.
