Clos Fourtet Premier Grand Cru Classe Class B St-Emilion
Château Clos Fourtet is a St. Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé property located just outside the entrance to the town. It is distinguished by its beautiful ivy-covered manor house and some of the most extensive underground cellars in the region. Clos Fourtet has 19 hectares of vineyards planted with Merlot , Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon . The wine is vinified traditionally and is aged in oak barriques for 18 months. It is bottled unfiltered. Clos Fourtet has had several owners over the years and underwent a mini-renaissance under the stewardship of the Lurtons in the latter half of the last century. Pierre Lurton was the winemaker who really established the property`s reputation as one of the finest on the St. Martin plateau. He left to become winemaker at Cheval Blanc and was replaced by Daniel Alard. In January 2001, Clos Fourtet was bought by Paris businessman Phillipe Cuvelier (12 x 75 cl)
Chateau Clos Daviaud LES CIMES Montagnes-St-Emilion
Chateau Clos Daviaud has a vineyard of 4 adjoining hectares located upon a clayey slope in the Montagne Saint-Emilion appellation. The vineyard is planted with 30 year old Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines. The parcels involved in this Les Cimes can only be found on the top of the hillside, offering an outstanding environment for growing and maturing the fruit. Once the hand harvested fruit are in the winery great care is taken and finally the wine will spend 8 to 12 months in 50% new oak / 50% in one-year old barrels, where micro-oxygenation, stirring of the lees and very few gentle rackings by gravity are undertaken. Given such ideal grapes, the vinification favours gentle extractions in order to make a full-bodied, balanced, powerful wine. Here, maturation in barrel brings hints of complexity without spoiling the wine's great expression of fruit. (12 x 75 cl)
