Saltram of Barossa SALTRAM No 1 Shiraz Barossa Valley

Saltram Mamre Brook Chardonnay is a rich and full bodied tribute to this marvellous variety. All fruit for this wine is sourced from the Barossa and the resultant wine has all of the classic aromas of melon, peach and nectarine together with light barrel ferment characters. The wine is full bodied, layered with tropical fruit flavours balanced by a backbone of oak. The finish is rewardingly long and generous. (6 x 75 cl)

Saltram Mamre Brook Shiraz is a rich Barossan wine of great depth and intensity. The nose shows intense dark berry and plum with hints of cassis and chocolate. On the palate the wine offers generous and rich characters of fleshy dark berry fruit, liquorice with some spice and vanilla oak characters complimented by fine softly textured tannins. This wine will continue to improve with cellaring over the next five to eight years. (6 x 75 cl)

This wine pays homage to the original Mamre Brook wines and is made in open topped fermenters capturing all of the ripe generous characters of Cabernet Sauvignon such as plum, dark berries and chocolate. The palate is richly layered, portraying concentrated mulberry and black berry fruit flavours with fine tannins and an exceptionally long finish. This wine can be enjoyed over the next 10 years. WINEMAKERS' COMMENTS: COLOUR: Deep ruby red with purple hues. NOSE: Black currants, plums, cherries, with cinnamon, aniseed, all spice, leather and mocha, balanced beautifully by savoury vanillin oak. PALATE: Full bodied with concentrated flavours of black cherries, plums and blueberries. Fresh and vibrant with peppery spice and earthy characters. It exhibits a silky texture with fine savoury tannins and a persistent length.

Fruit for the Ebenezer range of wines are picked predominantly from 30 to 80 year old Barossa vines ensuring that the wines are rich and full bodied with intense varietal and regional character. When selecting the fruit Barossa Valley Estate look at all their vineyards and pick the best blocks from a variety of soil types to ensure complexity of fruit flavours. The Maturation process occurred in 50% new and 50% 1 to 2 year old American oak for 18 months. This Shiraz has a deep red colour with dark purple hues. The bouquet is showing lifted plum fruit with savoury smoked ham characters from oak maturation. The palate is sweet, with luscious fruit on the front, as well as dark plum and blackberry with subtle charry oak complexity on the back palate.
