Bouquet: wide, ethereal, greatly refined, with delicate hues of wild violets and roses and memory of blackberry and vanilla.
Taste: dry, flavorous, smooth and soft, live strength, wide stuff, well expressed with young emotions.
Grapes original area: The grapes from which we produce our Nebbiolo d'Alba come from Nebbiolo vineyards located in a geographic area stretching on the right bank of Tanaro river, typical area producing the Nebbiolo grapes for Barolo and Barbaresco. The grapes coming from these areas have got organoleptic characteristics very similar to the ones of the grapes to be trasformed into Barolo and Barbaresco.
Method of selection and vintage: The selection of grapes is as important and fundamental for Nebbiolo as it is for Barolo and Barbaresco. Vintage time is just a few days before the one of Barolo and Barbaresco.
Wine processing: The soft pressing of the grapes is followed by fermentation at checked temperature with the must in contact with the peels for 12-13 days.
Description: It's a wine with a peculiar personality and an original location; being soft, elegant refined, in comparison with the more demanding Barolo and Barbaresco, it seems more easily approachable, even if it never gives up a smart class and an harmonious structure. Our Nebbiolo d'Alba is the ideal solution for those moments and occasion when you ask a wine for something less than the important presence of a great matured wine. It is approachable, but not easy, complex, but not too important, therefore it is a wine for a superior consumption, showing characteristics of elegant structure and being softly drinkable

Pio Cesare Nebbiolo d'Alba Piedmont
Fermentation in stainless steel vats at low temperature, skin contact for 10 days. 30% aged in French oak barrels, 70% in Slovenian oak, bottle ageing 6 months. The soil components of the tiny area in between Barolo and Barbaresco, where the vineyards are located, add more fruit and a particular character to this wine. Smooth, soft and rounded with complexity and a great elegance. (12 x 75 cl)
Pio Cesare Barbaresco Piemonte DOCG
Our Barbaresco has a glossy garnet colour with light ruby shades. The bouquet is intense and fragrant, with a hint of violets, cinnamon and vanilla. The palate is dry, full and vigorous, with overtones of peach. This wine has a quiet power. The Nebbiolo grapes for our Barbaresco come almost exclusively from our own vineyards in the village of Treiso. To these we add a small quantity of grapes from some of the best vineyards in Barbaresco and San Rocco Seno d'Elvio. The right blending of grapes from different vineyards allows us to produce a wine with many hues. As with our Barolo, the grapes for Barbaresco are carefully selected. Each and every grape is inspected to ensure perfection, and any grape that is not absolutely perfect is discarded. The three-week harvest takes place during the last two weeks in October and the first in November. The grapes are soft pressed and fermented at 25 to 26 degrees, in contact with the skins for 20 to 25 days. We have tended toward a long maturation in French oak, well beyond the terms imposed by the DOCG, so that our Barbaresco can develop a complex personality that complements her beauty. (6 x 75 cl)
Pio Cesare IL BRICCO Barbaresco DOCG Piemonte
The colour is very deep, with intense scents of ripe fruit. The tannins are sweet and mellow, but complex and elegant. This is a wine with great structure and complexity, with a very long ageing potential. Il Bricco is the name of the estate vineyard owned by our family in Treiso, in the area of Barbaresco. The word Bricco, in Piedmont dialect means the peak of a hill. The ''Il Bricco'' estate is not a generic peak, but the official name of that estate, marked on the government maps to indicate the specific hill dominating part of the territory of the Treiso village. This estate has been well-known for the high quality of soil, microclimate and sun exposure for over one hundred years. From the Nebbiolo grape, we have always produced our traditional Barbaresco. Since 1990, we have also produced this single vineyard Barbaresco from a selection of exclusively selected Nebbiolo grapes grown in plots on the Il Bricco estate. We only produce ''Il Bricco'' in top-quality vintages. The characteristics of the soil, the very low yields (6 x 75 cl)
Pio Cesare Barbera d'Alba DOC Piemonte
This Barbera has an intense ruby colour with garnet reflections. The bouquet is distinguished and vital, with fresh, ripe fruit. The palate is clear and definite, with long and pleasant finish. IThe grapes come from selected vineyards in the villages of Monforte and Castiglione Falletto and from grapes in Pio Cesare own vineyards in the villages of Serralunga and Treiso. The grapes undergo very careful selection to eliminate all imperfections (6 x 75 cl)
Pio Cesare Barolo DOCG Piemonte
The colour is an intense glossy garnet, with orange reflections. The bouquet is ethereal, with hints of violets, blackberry jam, licorice and cloves. The palate is dry and austere, with a lingering hint of almonds. The Nebbiolo grapes used to produce this Barolo come from the family vineyards around the village of Serralunga d'Alba. Their own grapes account for about 70% of our production, and they also source grapes from the most favourable areas in Castiglione Falletto and Monforte, using the same producers they have been using for the last hundred years. These are growers with whom we have been dealing for generations, and the relationships are much deeper than normal business relationships. This Barolo has always been produced through careful blending of grapes from different vineyards. Pio Cesare stubbornly sticks to this tradition because they believe that the union of grapes from different vineyards makes their Barolo unique. The grapes from Serralunga give a full body, the ones from Castiglione Falletto offer an ethereal and tempting nose, and those from Monforte provide class and a refined nature. This produces a unique and inimitable wine. (6 x 75 cl)

Pio Cesare Dolcetto d'Alba DOC Piemonte
Our Dolcetto has an intense ruby red colour with glossy purple hues. The bouquet is intense, distinct and delicately grapey, with a hint of raspberry and pepper. The palate is dry, supple and lively, with red currant and blueberry overtones. Our Dolcetto fully expresses the typical characteristics of this variety: fresh, fruity, supple and exciting. It is a wine that is easy to approach and easy to drink, evoking the emotion of ripe grapes and the joy of spring, yet supported by a fully body. The Dolcetto grapes are grown in selected vineyards around the village of Treiso, Monforte d'Alba, Serralunga and Madonna Como. The exact timing of the harvest is extremely important for all young wines, and Dolcetto is no exception. The goal is maximum ripeness, but not over-ripeness, which would cause the grapes to lose their freshness and liveliness. Only the best bunches are selected so as not to mar the fruitiness and delicate youth of the wine. Generally, the harvest occurs in the last week of September. The grapes are soft-pressed, and fermented under strict temperature-controlled conditions for 6 to 8 days. We typically bottle during the first days of March. (6 x 75 cl)
