Description: Robert Mondavi is known for producing hand-crafted wines of distinct style. Representing the best of California wine growing regions, including the legendary Napa Valley, each of the wines offers unique qualities and characteristics.

For over twenty-five years Mondavi's Woodbridge winery have been making fine wines in the Lodi region, one of California's oldest winemaking areas. It has grown in a quarter century, but still operates like a very small winery in many ways with gentle, hands-on techniques in the vineyards and winery that result in smooth, great tasting wines.

A deep, saturated red coloured wine it brims with intense blackberry and dark cherry fruit character. Enticing notes of sweet dried spices, reminiscent of star anise, add complexity to the fruit-forward flavours, while the fully mature tannins give the wine a velvety, supple texture that is easy to enjoy. Aged in small oak barrels to add subtle oak spices to the aromas it has a long, lingering finish.

Robert Mondavi WOODBRIDGE Rose California
This White Zinfandel needs an early harvest, because the style of this wine requires lower sugar levels and higher acidity than for full-bodied, red Zinfandel wine. 85% of the grapes are selected from the Lodi American Viticultural Area , with the balance from the Central Coast and North Coast AVAs. The Lodi appellation, surrounding Woodbridge Winery, has been known for outstanding Zinfandel grapes since the Gold Rush era. One of the first designated appellations in California, Lodi is nestled between the Sacramento Delta region and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The grapes are gently pressed as whole clusters to extract just a hint of color and delicate flavour from the skins. Almost all red grape varieties have clear juice so the intensity of color comes from the length of skin contact. The juice underwent a long, cold fermentation at 45ºF to accentuate the fresh, berry character of the Zinfandel grape. A small amount of the natural grape sugars was retained to give the wine a delicate sweetness and balance the crisp acidity. To add delicate floral accents to the flavor profile, 7% Muscat and 2% other aromatic white varieties were added. Because White Zinfandel is best enjoyed while young and fresh, it is not oak-aged. This White Zinfandel is popular for its pure expression of fresh fruit, accented with spice and floral notes. The Zinfandel grapes naturally high acidity is reflected in the wine's bright, beautifully balanced flavors. Lightly sweet and refreshing, the wine has delicate strawberry, ripe apple and watermelon character, with subtle nuances of flowers and sweet spices showing a nice finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley California
At 90 years of age, Robert Mondavi remains the global emissary for these wine. His vision was to create wines in California that belong in the company of the great wines of the world. Robert Mondavi is known for producing hand-crafted wines of distinct style. Representing the best of California wine growing regions, including the legendary Napa Valley, each of the wines offers unique qualities and characteristics. Robert Mondavi Winery is located in the heart of Napa Valley, California. The first major winery built in Napa Valley in the post-Prohibition era, Robert Mondavi Winery helped establish the foundation for the modern-day California wine business. Its mission-style architecture, with the expansive archway and bell tower designed by Cliff May, has become an enduring landmark that evokes California's winemaking history. Mondavi selected the majority of the grapes from the center of Napa Valley, a region well known for producing intensely flavoured Cabernet family grape varieties. The balance of sunny days and cool, foggy nights in Napa Valley is perfect for developing complex, ripe flavours and supple tannins in Cabernet Sauvignon. A range of soils-from alluvial to lean volcanic-contributes to the diverse flavours in this wine. Mondavi chose 35% of the grapes from the Oakville AVA, including 33% from Robert Mondavi To Kalon Vineyard, and 22% from the Stags Leap District AVA, including 7% from Robert Mondavi Wappo Hill Vineyard. The balance of the grapes came from the Rutherford AVA and other Napa Valley vineyards. Ripe dark berry, spice, violet and chocolate weave through the aromas and smooth, velvety flavours of this Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. These rich, expressive flavours come from the soils and climates of vineyards located primarily in the geographic center of Napa Valley. Firm tannins support the abundant fruit character and give the wine excellent length on the palate. Fermentation with both cultured and native yeast strains gives layers of nuance to the wine, and extended skin contact intensifies varietal complexity and softens tannins. Finally, Mondavi aged the wine in French oak chateau barrels for over 18 months to enhance the lush texture and add spicy oak accents to this wine. (12 x 75 cl)
