Description:
CARM - Casa Agricola Roboredo Madeira, is a strictly family concern, having been in the same family since business began in the middle of the 17th century.
The family have always been involved in farming activities centred in the region where the river Douro flows into Portugal. The aim has always been the production of high quality olive oil and wine, sourced exclusively from its 220 hectares of olive groves and 62 hectares of vineyards around the village of Almendra.
The modern winemaking era of Quinta do Crasto dates back as far as 1615, but its Roman ruins suggest earlier viticultural activity. Made from mixed varietal plantings of 60-year old vines. As a result, it is an intense and complex wine that is aged for nine months in French and American oak barrels. It has a firm, well-structured palate and shows ripe, concentrated fruit with vibrant acidity and a long finish. (6 x 75 cl)
Traditionally a producer of Port, in recent years this estate has been investing in and improving their unfortified red wines. The classic red port grapes Touriga National, Touriga Francesa and Tinta Roriz are gently pressed to extract the lovely red fruit. (12 x 75 cl)
