Description: The colour is a purple-red. Aromas are of spice, prune, blackberry and blueberry. Subtle hints of nutmeg and vanillin are woven through the wine. The palate is velvety and seamless, delivering concentrated black fruits and cherry. There is a slight gamey flavour intermingled with spice, making this wine very complex. A higher than normal new-French oak component builds a solid frame that the Old Garden fills completely. This wine will age beautifully for at least 10 years and is a classic Old Garden style.
In 1853 Friedrich Koch planted this Mourvèdre vineyard in the heart of the Barossa Valley. In deep sand over a bed of limestone the vines flourished. By the 1880s the local vignerons had already acknowledged the vineyard as the Old Garden. To the end of the 19th Century and throughout the 20th Century subsequent generations of Koch's family have tended these vines in the traditions of the Barossa: bush vines, no irrigation, hand pruned and hand harvested. Today nothing has changed. Old Garden is likely to be the oldest Mourvèdre vineyard in the world.

Dean Hewitson MISS HARRY Barossa Valley South Australia
The colour of Miss Harry is bright red with a purple hue. The aromas are high tones of ripe strawberry and red forest berries with spicy, smoky hints. The palate is wonderfully full, showing ripe strawberries and plums, and has a concentrated core of fruit essence that is soft and full. Flavours of fruit, spice and earth appear on the palate, creating a wine of great complexity and interest. The finish is long and soft. Barrel maturation in old, French barrels has increased the wine's complexity and refined its texture. The vintage in the Barossa Valley brings outstanding concentration to the traditional varieties of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre. These varieties were picked at optimum maturity, fermented separately on their skins before finishing fermentation and malo-lactic fermentation in old French barriques then matured in these same barrels for about 10 months. The final blend proportions are 45% Grenache, 40% Shiraz and 15% Mourvèdre. The Miss Harry continues the success of this beautifully structured, fruit-concentrated red wine that delivers wholeheartedly in a very approachable style. (12 x 75 cl)
Dean Hewitson NED & HENRY Shiraz Barossa Valley
The colour of Ned & Henry's Shiraz is deep red with a purple hue. The aroma is distinctively Barossa Valley Shiraz: black and red, ripe fruits with a solid, concentrated core. Matured in only French oak, the fruit is interwoven with pepper, nutmeg and clove. The seamless class of perfectly ripe Shiraz and French oak is a stand-out here. The palate structure of Ned & Henry's delivers in every aspect of the brief. The fruit flavours of Shiraz are full and concentrated yet soft and supple. The tannins are gentle yet persistent and completely mould into the wine. Ned & Henry's Shiraz is most definitely full-bodied: chocolate, blackberry and dark-earth characters. Yet the wine has great balance and poise and carries that signature called 'drinkability'. (12 x 75 cl)

Yet the wine has great balance and poise and carries that signature called 'drinkability' Superbly sited vineyards grown on red soil over limestone, the classic terra rossa, provide the fruit for Ned & Henry's. These vineyards are traditionally grown, low-cropped and produce the necessary flavours and tannins for our wine. After traditional fermentation the wine is pressed into quality French barriques, where the wine finishes fermentation and malo-lactic fermentation. The wine matures in these barrels for a total of about 15 months before racking. While the base wine has always been Shiraz, each year I have blended a small proportion of Mourvèdre with the Shiraz, which accentuates the fruit and delivers a greater complexity. (12 x 75 cl)
