Available in Magnum Bottles, remarkably complex champagne because of the combination of aromas that the Chardonnay and Pinot noir grapes deliver after years of maturing in cellars. The aroma is a mixture of dried fruit, hazelnut, almost sugar-coated almonds combined with dried figs. The wine's subtlety is enhanced by notes of lemon, and apricot. This feast of aromas dwells wonderfully in the mouth. The final, still fresh, note, enhanced by a slightly acidic top note, produces a highly vigorous wine. (6 x 1.5 Litres)
1989 was an exceptional year, on a par with 1976, 1947 ... 1893. For the first time in the Champagne region, experts referred to an "outstanding vintage" at the end of the wine-harvest. The very mild winter was followed by an almost summer-like month of March. Despite a little frost in April, the warm spring led to early flowering prompted by a sun-drenched summer. Harvesting began on 7 September in the earliest Chardonnay growths, almost 3 weeks before the start of the grape harvest in a normal year. Finally, the crop was very healthy and the acidity generally satisfactory for this outstanding harvest. Champagne with pale pink hue blending with delicate pastel colour. The convivial Chardonnay gives way to the Pinot, with its subtle or even mischievous progression. The sophistication of the Blending is reflected in the initial nose of small red fruits with acidy flavours followed by slightly more full-bodied notes which give this wine a certain impertinence. On the palate, it has a steadily growing presence thanks to its finesse and elegance but also its complexity. The notes of white fruit, such as peach, merge with gooseberry and pear. The finish corresponds to a smooth, delightful and well-balanced blend which makes this delightful young wine all the more irresistible. (6 x 75 cl)
Produced only when the harvest is exceptional, Brut Vintage is created from an exclusive selection of Pommery's seven finest crus. First, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes are blended together in equal proportions. This fine champagne is then aged for at least four years in the Pommery cellars. Finesse and elegance of the crus, with a full, rich flavour is acquired through ageing to produce a mature vintage Champagne, bursting with biscuit, fig, walnut and coffee tones on a fresh, lively structure. It picks up a hint of mushroom on the finish. (6 x 75 cl)
