The Humbrecht family have been making wines, exclusively from their own vineyards since 1658, when the founding father of the Humbrecht dynasty, Sonntag Humbrecht, began making wine in the Alsace region. The Domaine Zind Humbrecht itself began in 1959 with the marriage of Leonard Humbrecht to Genevieve Zind and the subsequent merging of their vineyards.The Humbrechts are a family of vintners with a passion for wine growing and the great wines of Alsace presently the Domaine owns over 28 hectares of vineyards in the Haut-Rhin Department. The success of Zind-Humbrecht wines lies in the attention they pay to the vineyards and this intensely spicy, flinty wine is displaying stony flavours combined with the ripe character, while the palate is very well balanced and built for ageing.
