Cederberg Cabernet Sauvignon Olifants River RSA

This Cape classic showcase wine from a 24 year-old single vineyard leads the pack in the Cederberg range. Production is limited to ñ 180 cases. The hand-crafted, classically styled vintage, is already eminently drinkable. Serious looking deep almost black colour. The 18 months maturation in 100% new French oak barrels has added complexity to the rich, multi-layered plum and cassis fruit flavours, adding tobacco and eucalyptus and some earthy tones. A classically dry finish with a touch of Merlot to help soften the firm Cabernet muscle. Bottled only in top years , this is a wine with power and depth for a long life. (6 x 75 cl)

For 14 years our south-facing Sauvignon Blanc vineyards were keeping their secret, but this harvest, with a acid of 7,4 and 1,9 grams of sugar per liter, is definitely hinting at what Cederberg Sauvignon Blanc is all about: a unique South African wine with very definite nose and palate characteristics. An elegant and exciting crisp wine with highly concentrated gooseberry and fig leaf aromas, as well as some dusty/peppery whiffs. The crisp taste adds freshness to any seafood dish, especially oysters and salmon. (6 x 75 cl)

This dry red blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Pinotage and 20% Ruby Cabernet shows the slight sweetness of ripe berry fruits, combined with more earthy tones and well-integrated tannins. Although this wine is far more complex than previous editions of the Cederberger, it is already approachable and ready to drink, but should improve in the next four years. The best partner for a rich game dish, but also excellent to accompany a braai (6 x 75 cl)

We think that this wine combines power with elegance. It is modern and delicious, rich but fresh, firm but approachable. The generous dark chocolate, roasted coffee and mulberry fruit on the palate are quite irresistible. Lots of spicy flavours and delicious juicy tannic texture give the wine an impressive depth. This Chenin Blanc was made from grapes from a 20 year old vineyard that were harvested at 23ºB in mid March. It fermented at 10 (6 x 75 cl)

A youthful green tinge and attractive gold colour on sight; floral character, peaches and blossoms on the nose; and a fat juicy palate, fragrantly rich in ripe oaky / lees character. The good acid backbone means that this elegant, well crafted wine is built to last. (6 x 75 cl)

A dark reddish-purple wine, full of dark chocolate and Mocha coffee on the nose. Well-structured wine with a nutty, dark chocolaty finish. (12 x 75 cl)
