The rather volatile, mature flavours of Lebanon's finest wine are not what you might expect but this has all the complexity and lasting qualities of a great Claret.
Bright, even tawny red browning at rim. Much more austere on the nose than the preceding wines, tangy with underlying oak. Much fuller than the nose suggests, with sweet, creamy, mouthfilling flavours of chestnuts, cedar, coffee and plums. High acidity levels and a long, dry tannic finish make this a candidate for roasted meats. Very good. (24 x 37.5 cl)
The grapes are handpicked as the sun rises across the Bekaa valley and are then swiftly transferred to the cellar in Ghazir where fermentation takes place followed by maceration lasting 2 to 4 weeks. During the first year the wine is racked into Bordeaux type barrels made from Nevers oak and where it matures from 12 to 15 months. While Chateau Musar red is certainly ready to be enjoyed upon release 7 years after vintage, or at the age of discretion, the patient are rewarded as they are exceptional after 15 years of age. (12 x 75 cl)
The nose is chocolate, tobacco and leather. Very complex and rich, red fruits, spices, olives and lots of fruits. Very harmonious and well balanced. Very long length with chestnut flavours. A great year (1 x 75 cl)
