Conn Creek Winery Cabernet Franc Napa Valley California
Since 1973, Conn Creek has been making some of California’s finest Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux-style wines. Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, Conn Creek winery has earned top scores by crafting a focused portfolio of select Napa Valley red wines with rich, intense and elegant style. This Napa Valley Cabernet Franc is characteristically varietal, showing the spice and fruit typical of the variety grown in the right bank of the Gironde in Bordeaux. Bright cherry and berry aromas with a hint of sage are framed in a bouquet of vanilla and caramel. A lively palate is packed with candied cherry and plum flavours in a medium bodied wine with a very smooth and lasting finish. A favorite of the Conn Creek staff. (12 x 75 cl)
Dry Creek Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon RESERVE Dry Creek Valley California
Dry Creek Vineyard was the first new winery to be established in the Dry Creek Valley since the days of Prohibition, when David Stare arrived in 1972. Today, Dry Creek Vineyard wines are easy to recognise due to the spirited yacht paintings that appear on the label of each bottle. David Stare's pioneering vision launched a new era of premium wine production in the Dry Creek Valley. Inspired by his travels throughout the traditional wine regions of France and Germany, Dave's focus was ever on quality. To persue this focus, small batch winemaking has been adopted because individual-lot winemaking promotes increased knowledge about how to manage each vineyard while offering maximum blending options and enhanced quality control. Dry Creek Vineyard insists on crafting each lot of wine separately with each vineyard lot crushed, fermented, and barrel aged separately. Approximately 75-100 different wines are produced each vintage, where fining is the exception, not the rule. Only produced in exceptional years this Reserve is aged 24 months in American and French oak to produce a wine of sumptuous and complex character. A deep ruby red coloured wine with aromas of blackberry, cassis and a touch of herbs there is a hint of spice that develops in the glass. Full-bodied with a wonderfully textured mouthfeel there are flavours of blackberry and cassis that abound in this elegantly structured wine. A lingering finish softens nicely with a touch of clove, tobacco and vanilla. (12 x 75 cl)
Belvedere Estate DRY CREEK VALLEY Cabernet Sauvignon California
Belvedere Winery specialises in artisinal wines from Northern Sonoma vineyards. For 15 years the owners of Belvedere, the Hambrecht family, have been searching out the best sites to produce wines with a real sense of place. As many of today's wines become increasingly indistinct, Belvedere has made a commitment to produce wines of focus and individuality. Three of California's most remarkable grape-growing sites surround Healdsburg, the location of the Belvedere winery. Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley and Russian River Valley all lie within 15 minutes of each other yet offer dramatically different micro-climates and are farmed accordingly, matching varieties to locations. This care and attention to detail has produced a rich full bodied wine with intense flavours of blackberry jam, raspberries, spice and chocolate. Well balanced and massively concentrated, this wine shows great toasty complexity and a long savoury finish. (12 x 75 cl)
