Much of the rest of the industry was sold elsewhere in the rush to privatise in the late 1980's, but Crown Estates managed to hold on to some serious vineyard holdings within the region together with the Szarvas vineyard - classified as one of the two 'Great First Growths' in the 1730s. Tasting note: Huge amber green. Heavy smoky botrytis nose with elements of sun-dried grapes. Huge sweetness on the palate with toasted sugar characters. Tight and structured with fine balancing acidity. Long. Still young. Extremely fine.
