Porto Vintage 1991 To describe a vintage means, first of all, to refer to the vegetative cycle and the conditions of the growing season. 1991 was a good year, neither too dry nor too humid. The vineyards matured without great effort, but fromt he last 15 days of July till mid-August, high temperatures caused some damage in maturation. However, the overall favorable weather contributed to the grapes' excellent aspect, and conditions were perfect at harvest time. The must was thin and aromatic, with an intense color that told us we were in the presence of an excellent wine. The same opinion was felt throughout the Duoro, as most port houses did declare a vintage 1991 Winemakers Notes: Appellation: Porto Origin: Exclusively from Ramos-Pinto quintas: 80% from Ervamoira , where the mature grapes provide excellent structure, and 20% from Bom Retiro , providing aroma and finesse. Adriano Ramos Pinto LBV Port
The LBV 1995 shows an intense red colour, almost opaque, with garnet hues. The aromas are complete and full of powerful ripe fruit with notes of black plum. The wine is full-bodied with oaky nuances, promising excellent bottle ageing. On the palate, it is fresh, velvety, spicy and lively. Hints of anise, black plum and raspberry are backed up by a soft tannic structure. This is a tasty wine with a nice long finish. Enjoy the wine's vivacity and fruitness now, or lay down to improve quality. A late-bottled vintage port is a single-vintage blend that has been aged four to six years in oak casks, unlike a vintage port which ages only two years in wood before bottling. As a result of this extended wood contact, LBV ports have mature, fruity flavours at a younger age, offering much of the character of a vintage port without the wait and at a lower price. (6 x 75 cl)
Adriano Ramos Pinto SUPERIOR Tawny Port
The Ramos-Pinto Superior Tawny is a deep brick-red color gained from its extended sojourn in oak. Intense fruit aromas greet the nose, with full secondary aromas evident. The first impression is light and hot, evolving into a rich smoothness gained from wood aging. Ready to drink upon release, this is a well-matured port, fruity, with a fine flavored, dry finish.
