Kingston Estate SARANTOS Soft Press Shiraz South Eastern Australia
Kingston Estate Wines has grown rapidly since Sarantos and Constantina Moularadellis first developed their 40 acre vineyard in 1979 in South Australia's Riverland wine region. Today, Kingston is the 10th largest wine producer in Australia and remains one of Australia's largest family-owned wineries. Sarantos, named after one of Kingston Estate owners is an easy drinking range of wines. Using only the best quality fruit and adopting the practice of soft pressing so that only free run juice is used in the winemaking process. This has resulted in a range of wines showing full fruit characters. This is a rich and warming wine style with infinite drinkability. Grapes were selected from vineyards throughout South Australia including the Clare Valley, Adelaide Plains and the Riverland. Parcels of fruit which showed generous fruit concentration were identified and treated in the Soft Press winemaking style. After crushing the grape skins were handled gently to maximize the variety's pure and clean flavours during the ensuing fermentation process. Only a small portion of the wine was matured with American and French oak with the intention being to allow maximum fruit expression and the oak adding subtle complexity. The Sarantos Shiraz is a deep plum red colour while on the nose it has rich licorice, chocolate, plums, dark berry fruits and subtle spiciness and is very much like a warm Christmas fruit pudding. These attractive flavours continue onto the palate and are fused with soft charry characters and maraschino cherries. For all its depth of flavour and intensity it has surprisingly soft tannins and acid, typical of the 'Soft Press' style. (12 x 75 cl)
Kingston Estate SARANTOS Soft Press Chardonnay Riverland South Australia
Sarantos Chardonnay is a wine specifically designed to complement and reflect the easy-going relaxed lifestyle we Australian 's enjoy today. Whether this wine is enjoyed with friends at many of the thousands of Al fresco styled cafes that we have embraced as a nation,or whether it be a quiet night at home relaxing;Sarantos Chardonnay is the perfect partner for any occasion. The criterion for putting this wine together was that it must have universal appeal and above all must be easy to drink. For this we looked towards viticultural areas that we knew would provide us Chardonnay fruit that would be complementary to one another.Consequently we decided on the full rich fruit flavours derived from the Riverland and Sunraysia areas.By night harvesting and only using the free run juice for this Chardonnay we have produced a wine delicate and full of fruit flavours. The use of static fermenters, neutral yeasts and cold fermentation over a period of 2 to 3 weeks, has produced a clean, crisp, contemporay style of Chardonnay. With only 5%French Oak treatment just a hint of added flavour complexity has also been achieved. The result is a wine light straw in colour, with wonderful peach and tropical fruit aromas. The palate is dry and crisp with a clean elegant finish reminiscent of lychee and melon. With just a hint of acid on the finish, this wine is a delight to drink. Kingston Estate ESTATE Chardonnay South Eastern Australia
Light straw in colour with a slight green tinge, the Kingston Chardonnay displays some exciting peach, citrus and lemon influences on the nose. The palate is exceptional with balance being the key.Hints of peach and tropical fruit flavours are lifted by some exciting lemon myrtle flavours. The use of some slight French oak influence has further enhanced this wine adding a degree of complexity. In the quest for fruit selection we opted for those vineyards we believe practice best canopy, drip irrigation and vineyard management. We found these sites in the sun drenched areas of the Riverland and Sunraysia growing regions. Making sure these berries were picked at their optimum levels, night harvesting was employed at approximately 13 ºto 14 ºBaume thus avoiding any likelihood of any phenolic hardness. Small batch fermenting in static fermenters with a neutral yeast has enabled full fruit flavours to develop.Avoiding any further malolactic fermentation we have produced a truly fruit driven style of wine with only a hint of French oak treatment. Kingston Estate EMINENT Chardonnay South Eastern Australia
Echelon showcases the limited release varietal wines from South Australia, considered by Kingston's winemaker as the pinnacle of each vintage. Only parcels displaying exceptional fruit vibrancy and intensity of flavour make the final selection. Sourced from various South Australian premium regions, the wines are assessed not only for their youthful qualities, but an ability to develop their full potential with further bottle maturation. The grapes for this wine were from vineyards at Adelaide Hills, Limestone Coast and Riverland. The fruit was harvested during the cool night temperatures to retain fruit freshness and minimize oxidation. The grapes were then crushed, chilled, pressed and inoculated with premium yeast. The fermenting juice was transferred to 80%French and 20% American new and old hogs heads. It was then allowed to mature on oak with regular lees stirring for 12 months with 10% undergoing malolactic fermentation. Individual barrels were selected for their flavour intensity and complexity, and mouthfeel characteristics. A brilliant, straw yellow coloured wine with youthful green hues. The bouquet is showing lifted tropical fruit over aromas of coconut and apricots. There are plenty of fruity flavours with layers of attractive peach, grapefruit and melon fruits well integrated with the creamy vanilla barrel ferment characters. The well-balanced acidity from this cooler fruit growing region gives the wine wonderful length, persistency and elegance. Limited Availability. (12 x 75 cl)
