Description: The vineyards of Lanzerac are to be found in the quiet and utterly serene surroundings of the Jonkershoek Valley in Stellenbosch, South Africa. It was here that in 1958, following the French practice of combining wine farm and country hotel, that the Lanzerac homestead was transformed into a luxury manor.

More recently, in 1991, South African businessman Christo Wiese purchased the Lanzerac farm and set about renovating the homestead and its land. In the process, the Lanzerac Manor and Winery was restored to its former glory as one of the region's most distinguished examples of Cape Dutch architecture.

Wynand Hamman was appointed as winemaker and immediately set about replanting the vineyards and building a truly modern cellar. All wines are therefore made, bottled and produced on the 155 hectare country estate. Although this limits production capacity, it assists winemaker Wynand Hamman in concentrating on growing the right varieties for our unique terroir and to handle the fruit and wines with greater care and respect.

Due to this quality-orientated policy we have helped pioneer the noble white varieties in South Africa and are proud to have received various national and international awards and accolades for our efforts.

This Chardonnay is medium bodied with a straw coloured hue while the nose shows subtle oaking blended with nuances of citrus peel and butterscotch. The palate is mellow with balanced acidity leading to an enjoyable finish.

This Merlot has a deep and dark red colour while on the nose the wine shows the typical varietal flavours of blackberry, plum, chocolate and fresh cream. Lanzerac Estate Pinotage Stellenbosch RSA
CELLARMASTER'S COMMENTS: This Pinotage has an excellent deep colour, with ripe, plumy red fruits on the nose and palate with a good mouth-feel and lingering aftertaste. With five to ten years' maturation it will start to acquire the velvet density and luxurious chocolate and caramel flavours of its very early Lanzerac predecessors. A full-bodied, complex wine with a beautiful fruit/wood balance and a good tannin structure that will allow it to age extremely well (12 x 75 cl)

CELLARMASTER'S COMMENTS This Cabernet Sauvignon has a garnet-red colour. On the nose the wine has very prominent youngberry, blackberry with undertones of vanilla and cigar-box flavours. On the taste the young berry, blackberry and vanilla flavours come through with undertones of almond and marzipan on the aftertaste. Neethlingshof Estate No Wood Chardonnay Stellenbosch RSA
Very healthy grapes are picked at optimum ripeness, and are then partly fermented on the lees. The wine is pale, with medium depth, clear and bright straw- coloured. On the nose this Chardonnay produces a bouquet that is youthful and fruity: soft, peachy, with limey, oaky undertones. On the palate, it is medium-bodied in the style of a white Burgundy, with subtle but exotic flavours of toast, lime, pear and almond that linger on the finish. This attractive all-round wine can be enjoyed with a wide variety of poultry or fish, vegetables in creamy sauces, as well as salads dressed with Balsamic vinegar and walnut oil. Serve chilled at around 12º Celsius. (12 x 75 cl)
Neethlingshof Estate Gewurztraminer Stellenbosch RSA
This wine has a clear and bright yellow-straw colour. The nose is intense and typical of the grape variety. Youthful and fruity, it is clean, perfumed, with rose petal and litchee aromas developing well after a few minutes in the glass. Medium-bodied, it is smooth with a hint of sweetness on the palate. A long, lingering, fruity and typical Gewürztraminer aftertaste rounds off this superb wine. Enjoy it with spicy food, such as curries and Chinese food, wherever spicy and sweet components mingle. Can also be enjoyed with light and fruity desserts or on its own. Serve well chilled at 10 (12 x 75 cl)
