This Wine is made from the pignolo grape and fermented in French oak barrels. With a deep ruby red hue it has an abundance of red fruit flavours with hints of cassis, pepper, and tobacco. Sandwiched next to the Slovenian border in the North East corner of Italy, Friuli has had a history of producing light aromatic white wines of immense drinkability but of little interest outside the region. Silvio Jermann has almost single handedly changed that. Silvio is widely considered to be a true 'artist' in the production of wines from his region, he is one of Friuli's top winemakers, producing small quantities of finely honed wines usually pre-sold on allocation. His style is to bring out floral aromas and piercing varietal character along with subtlety and elegance, resulting in very long wines with good ageing potential. An intense straw yellow colour with a faint tinge of old rose. Beautifully pure, elegant, floral Pinot Grigio. The bouquet is full and fruity. A touch of almonds and vanilla, a hint of fruit and spice on the palate, a smooth and dry full-bodied white which is particularly harmonious and accessib (6 x 75 cl)
