Description:
The Plantagenet Great Southern Riesling is a pale straw color with green hues. It has a classic lime infused aroma with lemon rind and pear characters, enhanced by subtle spice and mineral tones. Citrus characters follow through to the palate. It finishes with great length with lemon, lime and pear elements lingering, supported by its fine acid structure. The Plantagenet winery is located in the Mount Barker township, a sub-district of the Great Southern region in Western Australia. The area is famous for its premium quality wine production, the cool-climate ensuring the slow ripening of the grapes which enhances fruit composition and flavours. Plantagenet’s five vineyards are located to the south and west of the town.
A Pale straw colured wine with green hues and spicy green apple aromas with minerally, slate and lemon rind notes as well as a nuance of citrus blossom. Firm natural acidity carries the length of the palate but balanced by the depth of fruit while strong citrus flavours with a spicy edge carry on the long finish. (6 x 75 cl)
Straw yellow coloured Chardonnay with a clean, lifted aromas of lightly caramelised fig, mandarin and cumquat that are delicately interlaced with cashew and vanillin oak influences. The medium to full palate is showing fine acidity and great length with citrus, cashew and subtle creamy notes that linger. (6 x 75 cl)
A deep dense colour of dark plum defines this shiraz as the aroma opens with blueberry and mulberry, while a dollop of vanilla gives way to wafts of pepper, nutmeg cloaked with cedar lurking in the background. On the palate the strongly varietal structure is built for the long haul, with a sumptuous mid palate of succulent plums and blueberries that lingers as the mouth filling spice flavours enhance the long finish. Gavin Berry works hardest on his Pinot Noir and certainly produces a wine to make Burgundians worry. Grapes, sourced from Mount Barker and Pemberton are transformed into a wine which combines richness of fruit and gamey complexity. 100% Pinot Noir the wine is made using open fermenters and plunged, while it is aged 35% in New Oak for 12 months with lees stirred . This has produced a light brick red showing a generous aroma of strawberry and dark cherries. Subtle floral spice, star anise and toasty characters are evident in the background. On the Palate Strawberry and dark cherry characters are in abundance complemented by underlying subtle mandarin peel accents. Firm but fine tannins, mouth-filling creamy texture and intense lingering flavours are to be found on the great finish.
