Substantial and rich on the nose. Fullish-bodied with heaps of fruit on the palate. Very good grip. This is not a bit too firm. Lots of depth. Complex and balanced. In the heart of appellation Lussac-Saint Emilion, lies Chateau Bel-Air which comprises of 30 unbroken hectares, including 21 hectares of vines. In 1978, Jean-Noel Roi took over the estate which has been in his family for over a century. The vineyard stands on a wide plateau of clay with areas of silica gravel, with a subsoil of clay and iron pan. The wine is 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc & 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are on average 25 years old, a great age for producing well balanced wines. In maturing the wines the most traditional methods are used: 150 oak stave barrels, one third of which are renewed every year. A further guarantee of quality is that bottling takes place at the chateau 18-20 months after harvesting. By that time the wine has a fine, deep colour and is tannic without being too aggressive. The fruit makes it a pleasant drink in it's early years, but reaches full maturity at five to ten years old, sometimes more. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Moulin St Georges has been referred to as a junior version of Chateau Ausone as it is owned by the same proprietors, the Vauthier family. Its 17.3 acres of vineyards are located between those of Ausone and La Gaffelière and are well-sited on a south-west facing slope, known as the Pavie slope. The vineyards are planted with Merlot , Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon . The vines are expertly cultivated by Vauthier who firmly believes that a wine's quality is first and foremost a function of the vines and the fruit they bear. Consequently, yields are kept deliberately low and the grapes exclusively hand-harvested. Winemaking takes place in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks and the wine is then matured in 100% new oak barriques for 15-20 months. The wines are bottled unfiltered. (12 x 75 cl)
