Description:
The Chateau and its vineyard are located on the second highest hill in the Sauternes area. Due to the altitude the grapes ripen a little earlier than in the rest of the district, and are less often hit by night frosts. The estate flourished under Albert Vuillier, who acquired it in 1971. His management aimed at quality and this approach has been continued by Domaines Barons de Rothschild who have been the owners since 1985. Rieussec is a classic example of the best Sauternes can produce. The colour is golden and concentrated. While the palate shows a multi-dimensional wine, which is generous in fruit: dried apricot, succulent ripe pear, dates and currants. 18 to 30 months in new barriques. Gravel over limestone.
