Les Coteaux Du Pic St Loup Reserve AC
The Co-operative Les Coteaux Du Pic built at the foot of the Pic Saint Loup in the area of Saint-Mathieu de Tréviers, has brought together more than three hundred vine growers. It is the result of the fusion of three cooperative cellars. Today it is made up of a centre for collecting grapes in Notre Dame de Londres, a cellar for vinification and storing in the village of Valflaunès and the main cellar for vinification, storing and bottling in Saint-Mathieu de Tréviers. A wine made from 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache it has a deep red colour with purple tints. Complex fragrance with hints of the "garrigue" and fruits of the forest, it is a silky tasting wine, smooth tannin and well balanced wine with a nice finish. (12 x 75 cl)
Chateau De Lascaux LES SECRETS Pic St Loup Coteaux du Languedoc
The new flagship wine of the Chateau. A well-known estate taken over by Jean-Benoit Cavalier in 1984 which seems to be on the right tracks again after a few years in the doldrums. The vineyards are situated in the communes of Vacquieres and Corconne north east of the Pic Saint Loup. (6 x 75 cl)
Chateau De Lascaux LES NOBLES PIERRES Pic St Loup Coteaux du Languedoc
Les Nobles Pierres is an of assemblage 90% Syrah and 10% old Grenache vines and aged in Allier oak barrels for twelve months. A lovely deep red colour showing a complex but elegant nose of vanilla, red fruits, pepper and tapenade. An excellent attack, with silky, melted tannins it is fat, voluminous, and round. A long finish of great complexity, on notes of vanilla, licorice, laurel, pepper and olives, finesse and elegance are the essential characteristics of this wine. A well-known estate taken over by Jean-Benoit Cavalier in 1984 which seems to be on the right tracks again after a few years in the doldrums. Domaine De L'Hortus GRANDE CUVEE Rouge Pic St Loup Coteaux du Languedoc
Jean Orliac is one of the top producers in Pic Saint Loup and his wines are to be found in many of the top French restaurants. Domaine de l'Hortus is one of the standard bearers in AOC Pic St Loup. In 1979 Jean and Marie-Thérèse Orliac planted some abandoned land at the foot of two dramatic cliffs, the Pic St Loup and the Montagne de l'Hortus. They also built a distinctive winery, constructed mostly of wood. Today, they now have 55 hectares of vines, split over two sites, with 43 ha red grapes and 12 ha white. The main vineyard area is near the winery, where Mourvèdre grows on the hot scree slope under the Montagne de l'Hortus, whereas Grenache and Syrah are grown on a northeast-facing slope under the Pic St Loup, with a cooler microclimate. The second vineyard area is situated some 25 km away, at Clos St Jean. (6 x 75 cl)
