Description: A classic blend with a yeasty nose complementing the flavours of fresh fruit. Finishes with a pleasant natural acidilty. Enjoy alone or with a variety of savoury foods. Grapes predominantly from Marlborough's well drained silt loam soils. The warm dry climate produces a balance of fruitiness, acidity and sweetness ideal for a traditional sparkling wine. Undergoes malotactic fermentation which softens the wine and adds buttery flavours. The second fermentation lasts six to eight weeks and then the wine rests for eighteen months allowing the yeasty tones and fine bubbles to develop.

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines from Hawkes Bay and Marlborough form the basis of the blend. Marlborough's well-drained silt loam soils overlying gravel and warm dry climate, result in grapes with an optimum balance between fruit flavour, acidity and sweetness ideal for the production of top quality traditional method sparkling wines. New clones of Pinot Noir from the Hawkes Bay provide a richness and fullness to the final blend. Pale salmon in colour with aromas of strawberry fruit and nutty characters. The palate is crisp, complex and well-balanced, with a predominance of Pinot Noir for full flavour. (6 x 75 cl)

Montana RESERVE Chardonnay Marlborough NZ
Golden in colour with a rich creamy bouquet, hints of stonefruit, hazel nuts and spicy oak vanilla aromas. Full and powerful on the palate with flavours of ripe peach and grapefruit. The dry, acid balanced finish is enhanced by subtle toasted peppery oak. Grapes are harvested when very ripe at 23-24.5 ºBrix in early to mid April. The juice is fermented in American and French oak barriques followed by maturation for about nine months while remaining on yeast lees. Partial malolactic fermentation softens the natural acidity and adds a lush creaminess. Lees stirring was implemented to broaden the textural interest of the wine. Grapes are selected from the Renwick and Brancott Estates where vines are carefully managed to for optimum fruit exposure and development which ensures low crop yields with concentration of fruit flavour.
