Monterey County is quickly emerging as one of the best places in California to grow and produce Chardonnay. The region consistently rewards wine lovers with bright acidity, delicious tropical fruit flavors and creamy textures. Three vineyards provided the majority of the Chardonnay fruit including Terra Ventosa and Vina del Rey in Monterey County, near King City and Castle Coastal Vineyard in the cool Arroyo Seco region of Monterey County. The cool climate and well-drained soils of the Terra Ventosa Vineyard provide ideal conditions for growing Chardonnay, while Vina del Ray Vineyard, also a relatively cool area, produces Chardonnay with ripe citrus and floral aromas while maintaining nice acidity. After harvest, each vineyard lot was individually pressed; then 60% of the blend was cold-tank fermented to preserve the wine's natural vibrancy. Approximately, 40% was barrel fermented to add a layer of creamy complexity to the final blend. The wine was then aged in one-to-three-year-old American and French oak barrels to give the wine a nice toasty note on the finish. This Blackstone Monterey County Chardonnay shows aromas of light tropical fruit, lemon citrus with a touch of mineral notes and pleasing oak. This bright, well-balanced wine has a long, lingering finish. For more than 75 years, the Indelicato family has been crafting fine wines while assembling a portfolio of world class estate vineyards. Today, Delicato harvests more than 10,000 acres of vineyards across the top grapegrowing regions of California. These range from the coastal cool of the legendary San Bernabe Vineyard in Monterey to the rolling foothills of Lodi. A celebrated team of highly experienced winemakers has brought decades of expertise to bear on these remarkable grapes, to create Delicato wines of distinctive character and memorable quality. Most of the Chardonnay fruit selected for this wine was harvested from some of the oldest vineyard blocks in the San Bernabe Vineyard in Southern Monterey County. These twenty-five year old blocks have historically borne fruit of great depth and intensity of flavour. This deep golden Chardonnay showcases the great depth of Monterey and San Bernabe Vineyard fruit flavour. The aroma is of fresh pears, ripe apples, and tropical fruit all wound tightly around an enticing butterscotch core. In the mouth the wine is full-bodied, rich and silky and reminiscent of pineapple, coconut and lemon peel. The long, rich finish is enhanced by hints of spicy oak. (12 x 75 cl)
Brilliant magenta in color, our Wildflower Valdiguié has intense varietal aromas of boysenberry, cranberry and bing cherry with faint herbaceous hints of Valdiguié stems. The brambly fruit aromas carry through on the palate and are balanced by the moderate acidity and touch of residual sugar. This wine has the capability of aging up to ten years, but it should be enjoyed in its youth with grilled salmon, roasted pork or wild fowl. Serve slightly chilled. (6 x 75 cl)
This wine expresses a beautifully crystalline mineral aspect, great persistence on the palate, and a bracingly crisp, grapefruit, yuzu and tangerine dream. It is the perfect aperitif and wildly successful with Asian food or shellfish, the traditional Galician accompaniment Galicia, the Iberian playpen of albariño, loureiro and treixadura, could not be more different than Soledad, yet these varieties seem to be enjoying their extended siesta in the Salinas Valley (12 x 75 cl)
Our Muscat is a musky, melodious, melon-like mediation on minerality. Powerfully aromatic, with a bracingly clean acidity, the wine is just off-dry and should induce those fearing the bogeyman of residual sweetness to table their apprehensions. Below the initial waft of jasmine resides a host of spice, botanical and stony notes to color and filigree the perfume. The combination of all these elements (12 x 75 cl)
