Description: The Cricket Pitch ‘CP’ Cabernet, Merlot and Shiraz is a typical ‘South Eastern Australian’ blend of 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, and 25% Shiraz (and 12% Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Grenache, and Sangiovese), sourced from premium vineyards in McLaren Vale and Padthaway in South Australia, as well as Beechworth in Victoria. Although a drought year across most of Australia’s regions, careful handling has ensured that the ‘CP’ Cabernet-Merlot-Shiraz displays the savoury characters and easy drinking style that are the hallmarks of the wine. Matured mostly in one to three year old American and French oak barrels for up to 18 months, the ‘CP’ Red is accessible on the palate, and has balance, length, and subtle oak flavours that support the fruit. The pristine character of the varieties shines through in the glass, from the slightly cedary notes of the Cabernet Sauvignon through to the soft, fruity richness of the Shiraz.

Brokenwood CRICKET PITCH White Hunter Valley
Cricket Pitch is bright pale yellow in colour, with green tints and aromas of citrus with herbaceous green pea edge. Sauvignon Blanc from the cooler areas provides the powerful fruit backbone with Semillon giving a structure of richness to the palate. Some barrel ferment character adds subtle complexity and further dimension to the palate. A fine natural acid structure provides length and liveliness to the finish. In 1978, Brokenwood sourced fruit from outside the Hunter Valley for the first time. The practice of multi-district blending is now a major part of the company philosophy, with parcels of fruit sourced from ten of Australia's premier wine regions. This allows Brokenwood's blended wines to maintain a consistently high standard, and enables the winemakers to make the most of distinctive regional characteristics. Again this wine will be bottled under the Stelvin closure, so that it can be enjoyed free from cork taint and in perfect condition. (6 x 75 cl)
Brokenwood RAYNER VINEYARD Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Brokenwood is one of Australia's most outstanding producers. Based in the Hunter, this property is justly renowned for the wines from their own Graveyard vineyard. The Shiraz in particular, is a stunning example of the classic Hunter style. Iain Riggs has, over the years, built upon this reputation with wines from other regions. The success of this policy was illustrated when the 1999 Rayner Vineyard Shiraz won not only the Rhone and Syrah-Grenache trophy at the 2001 International Wine Challenge Awards but also the Red Wine Trophy. Its combination of power and elegance is exemplifies the Brokenwood style as pioneered by Riggs and his winemaker, Peter James Charteris (6 x 75 cl)

Brokenwood RAYNER VINEYARD Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Consistency best sums up this special vineyard. The initial feature is the dense black/dark red cherry colour. Maturation was in predominantly American oak and the distinctive vanillin lift compliments the ripe dark berry and mocha chocolate aromas of McLaren Vale Shiraz. A full bodied mouthfeel. Good viscosity and long flavours of plum, vanillin and charry notes. An excellent finish and although these wines can be consumed in their youth, they do develop into rich, chocolate/earth McLaren Vale mature reds. The palate has strong 'turkish delight' characters balanced by subtle oak and grape tannins. (6 x 75 cl)

Lindemans BIN 55 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon South Eastern Australia
The Lindemans Bin Series wines are made with fruit sourced from key grape growing regions in Australia. This ability of Lindemans to source and blend wines from different regions produces wine of a consistently outstanding quality regardless of varying vintage conditions. Parcels of this wine were matured in a combination of French and American oak and this has produced a deep crimson coloured wine fading to ruby at the rim. A full nose, replete with aromas of cassis and spice develop onto the palate while the finish is supported by soft tannins and natural acidity. (12 x 75 cl)
