Michel Rolland and Jean-Michel Arcaute invited 5 other investors to join them in developing wines from Argentina and the 2002 vintage is the first to be released. Using the combined expertise of the partners, all of whom are in the wine business has produced a bright purple/ruby coloured blended wine with 40% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 20% Shyrah. This wine has a rather animally nose, quite Rhone-like with notes of crushed blacked pepper and melted tar, while the palate is full-bodied soft entry and a spicy mid-palate. Quite rustic and loose at the seams the oak dominates the wine for a great tobacco finish. (6 x 1.5 Litres)
Bodega Terrazas de los Andes TERRAZAS RESERVA Malbec Vistalba Mendoza Argentina from Argentina, Mendoza, Vistalba by Bodega Terrazas de los Andes Powerful Reds (6 x 75 cl)
Enticing and warm, with mixed spice, delicate damson and rich bramble fruit on the nose. On the palate the wine shows a darker fruit character with more savoury overtones, generous and full with a soft rounded finish (12 x 75 cl)
One can detect the aromas of tropical fruit, such as pineapples, mango, honey and a touch of vanilla. The Chardonnay grapes of ''Finca Los Nobles'' acquire great complexity, structure and personality from the chalky soil. The exhuberant strength of the aromas comes from the granite. The wine: Special care is taken with the white grape harvest, due to their delicacy. The grape are manually selected on the conveyor belt which takes them to the destemmer, after cooling to 6º C (6 x 75 cl)
Characterised by its great structure, sweetness and its aromas of spices, ripe plums, coffee, cherries and violets. After 18 months in fine oak and 14 months in bottle it acquires aromas of vanilla. Velvety on the palate. Since vines were first cultivated in Vistalba, viticulturists have cultivated a grape called Malbec Verdot. In Finca Los Nobles we have determined that in those days vineyards were a mix of Malbec and, , Petit Verdot, plus some which possessed the characteristics of both. We have continued to respect these vineyards which express the true character of the region. The wine: Manual selection of grapes, then destemming. Controlled fermentation at 26º (6 x 75 cl)
