Established in 1928 Bodegas Luis Canas is situated in Villabuena in the heart of Rioja Alavesa and is ideally placed to make great wine. Careful work in the vineyards and in the winery ensures that this potential is optimised. Producing around 1.5 million bottles per year the estate controls 90 hectares of its own vineyards and through long term suppliers has another 200 hectares under its control all in Rioja Alavesa. Additionally, it holds ISO 9002 for the modern winery and bottling plant. Very limited in supply, this is the flagship wine of this estate, produced from tiny yields of exceptional quality fruit. A tribute to their late mother this wine is produced from low yielding, very old Tempranillo vines. This wine is complex and intense with layer upon layer of flavours of spice and dark fruits. A Reserva wine, ageing in top-quality French and American oak barriques has added subtle vanilla, coffee and chocolate aromas and flavours. Truly a wine of rare quality.
