Omaka Springs Estates is a family business owned by Geoff and Robina Jensen. The vineyards consist of 178 acres that lie across the Omaka Valley in the heart of Marlborough’s wine growing area. The first vines were planted in 1989 and further developed when Omaka Springs Estates were established in 1992.
The winemaker Ian Marchant has been with Omaka Springs since 1997 and this Sauvignon Blanc is grown in a perfect combination of warm sunny days and cool nights to produce the highest quality grapes for use in their wines.
The grapes were harvested meticulously on an early April morning whilst the day was still cool, and then immediately crushed, juiced, and then settled, racked off the lees before ferment at 12°C. The wine was then carefully blended with a delicate amount (8%) of Semillon and then held in temperature controlled conditions until final filtering before bottling.
Great care from the vineyard to the winery has produced a pale straw coloured wine with green tints. On the nose it is showing herbaceous with grassy and gooseberry flavours while the palate is refreshing with zesty flavours and a sliver of sweetness.

The winemaker Ian Marchant has been with Omaka Springs since 1997 and this Sauvignon Blanc is grown in a perfect combination of warm sunny days and cool nights to produce the highest quality grapes for use in their wines. The grapes were machine harvested on the morning in early May when they were at full ripe maturity. After careful extraction the juice was settled and racked off the lees before fermenting at 12°C. Fermentation was stopped to achieve the desired residual sugar level and the wine held in temperature controlled conditions until final filtering just two months later. Great care from the vineyard to the winery has produced pale straw coloured wine with green tints. On the nose are lemon and lime-evoking aromas that develop on the palate of this zesty wine.

Four new clones of Pinot Noir were used to create this wine. The fruit was hand picked in the cool of the early morning, crushed and cold soaked for seven days. It underwent a warm ferment before going into new French oak barriques. This wine was bottled without fining or filtration. Great care from the vineyard to the winery has produced a deep ruby red coloured wine with purple tints. The nose is deep and warm showing cherry/plum and spice flavours while the palate is displaying a mouth filling body, ripe fine tannins and a supple finish. (12 x 75 cl)
This wine is a blend of fruit from our vineyards with varying soil characteristics. Fruit sourced from the Estate vineyard on the upper terraces encompassed five parcels of varied Waimakiriri type soils of alluvial origin with free-draining basalt pebbles. This was supplemented by portions from the Tatou and Raupo vineyards, where the soils are a mixture of alluvial shingles with slightly higher clay contents. Indigenous yeasts and a selection of cultured yeasts were utilised for fermentation, for added complexity and texture. A small percentage of the blend was fermented in older French barriques to add depth, which when combined with regular batonnage, contributes a yeasty creaminess to fill the mid-palate. The indigenous yeast, barrel-fermentation, and extended lees contact are all used to contribute complexity, texture, and integration to this wine. (12 x 75 cl)
A ripe, lush style of Sauvignon entirely fermented and aged in French oak. The concentration of ripe gooseberry fruit flavours is subtley enhanced by the undertone of creamy oak. Fine acidity gives balance and persistence. (6 x 75 cl)
The Omaka Valley vineyards in Marlborough are renowned for the production of intensely flavoured Chardonnay grapes and this wine shows how excellent fruit is the key to great wine. Will continue to improve for 5 years or more (12 x 75 cl)
The wine is pale straw in colour, and the bouquet is intense with typical gooseberry, asparagus and citrus aromas underpinned by nettly, herbaceous elements. The palate is crisp, dry and persistent. "Consider this wine as an ideal brunch or lunch accompaniment." (6 x 75 cl)
