Keith Tulloch Shiraz Viognier Hunter Valley Australia

Named after Keiths Great Grandmothers maiden name 'Kester' this is a Shiraz with real power. While the name is a reflection of the family this wine has been influenced by Rhone values as complexity and length of flavour come to the fore. Benefitting from 20 months in oak with a trace of viognier this is well made wine showing a spicy, black fruit nose. Plum and currant flavours on the palate are enhanced by the spicy power that delivers into the long finish. (12 x 75 cl)

The fruit selection for this wine enables the richest flavours to be captured and once in the winery this sweet white semillon will spend 8 months in new and one year old French oak barrels. The care taken in making this wine has produced a full apricot, cumquat and honey aroma that develops through to the palate. Great sweetness and richness are the hallmarks of this Sauternes styled wine leading to a very long, full finish. (12 x 37.5 cl)

This Hunter Valley Shiraz is showing medium density colour with bright youthful tints. Aromas of mocha, dark chocolate and charry bramble from the oak give way to blackberry as well as savoury Hunter Shiraz fruit. A good restrained alcohol weight carries the rich flavours while the palate has vanillin and dark cherry. The soft tannins and dry finish round out this well made wine. (12 x 75 cl)

On the nose, excellent toast aromas and long lift on the nose. Palate flavours include toast as well as vanillin flavour in the mid to back palate. This wine will develop further with classic aged Hunter Semillon trademarks. A selection from the best vineyards on sandy soil in the Hunter, the wine is fermented in stainless steel, bottled young and then aged in bottle until its release.
