Alan Nelson's committment to quality is reflected in the hand-crafted wines carrying the Nelson's Estate Label. These wines come from carefully chosen highest quality grapes on the Estate and have been nurtured along at every stage in their creation. Deep red with a full colour to the rim, it is soft, rich and full-bodied wine combines blackberries, dark/bitter chocolate and allspice to result in a long, lingering finish. The grapes were picked fully ripe and pump overs were vigorous and frequent while being done by hand and not by irrigation. Next, the wine was fermented completely dry before pressing which, due to the super ripe grapes, allowed a harded pressing to draw out more of the rich extracts from the grapes. After malolactic the wine received 18 months ageing in 100% French oak barrels and finally the wine was lightly filtered prior to bottling. (6 x 75 cl)

Dry Creek Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon RESERVE Dry Creek Valley California
Dry Creek Vineyard was the first new winery to be established in the Dry Creek Valley since the days of Prohibition, when David Stare arrived in 1972. Today, Dry Creek Vineyard wines are easy to recognise due to the spirited yacht paintings that appear on the label of each bottle. David Stare's pioneering vision launched a new era of premium wine production in the Dry Creek Valley. Inspired by his travels throughout the traditional wine regions of France and Germany, Dave's focus was ever on quality. To persue this focus, small batch winemaking has been adopted because individual-lot winemaking promotes increased knowledge about how to manage each vineyard while offering maximum blending options and enhanced quality control. Dry Creek Vineyard insists on crafting each lot of wine separately with each vineyard lot crushed, fermented, and barrel aged separately. Approximately 75-100 different wines are produced each vintage, where fining is the exception, not the rule. Only produced in exceptional years this Reserve is aged 24 months in American and French oak to produce a wine of sumptuous and complex character. A deep ruby red coloured wine with aromas of blackberry, cassis and a touch of herbs there is a hint of spice that develops in the glass. Full-bodied with a wonderfully textured mouthfeel there are flavours of blackberry and cassis that abound in this elegantly structured wine. A lingering finish softens nicely with a touch of clove, tobacco and vanilla. (12 x 75 cl)

This wine is primarily from an estate vineyard directly across the street from the winery that has been growing exceptional Merlot for many years. In addition to enticing aromatics, this wine is packed with flavours of dark berries, plum and a hint of licorice and tobacco. (12 x 75 cl)
