The vineyard of Les Blanchots is very chalky and the soil almost white in appearance. It covers nearly 12 hectares and Laroche owns more than one third. The vines here are "selection massale" from the best of the Domaine's ancient vines, on average at least 25 years old. The "queen" of Grand Crus, for its finesse and elegance. A beautifully delicate bouquet of lime flowers and fresh mown hay, with a touch of vanilla. An intense, powerful, yet fresh and mouth-filling wine, with real steel running through it. It has superb length, integration and harmony. Serve in a decanter to allow it to develop its fragrant bouquet. It should be cool but not icy (6 x 75 cl)
A super-selection from the best plots and barrels of Grand Cru Les Blanchots. Yields, extremely low, are kept down by meticulous pruning and, when necessary, by green harvesting. The grapes are selected in the vineyard berry by berry. This is the ultimate Grand Cru with nothing spared. On the nose it is rich, weighty, honeyed and buttery. The intense ripe and luscious fruit makes it more open in its youth than Les Clos. The superb weight and complexity is balanced by freshness and mineral structure. It is long and lingering with a silky finish. Serve in a decanter to allow it to develop its magnificent bouquet. It should be cool but not icy (6 x 75 cl)
