Description: Quinta is the Portuguese word for vineyard and thus, whenever a vintage port has the word quinta, one can be guaranteed that grapes come entirely from this place. Quinta da Foz is situated in the heart of Port Wine country with steep terraced slopes reaching all the way down to the Douro River. This special vintage has a deep, dark inky colour. Its rich bouquet is predominantly of forest fruits, notably ripe plums and prunes, with touches of cocoa and spices. On tasting it is mature, complex, full and rounded. Using only the best grapes of the 1986 harvest, this vintage port was aged for two years in fine oak vats before bottling. Ready to drink now, it will continue to mature for decades (lay bottles down horizontally in a cool and dark place). As vintage port forms a natural deposit, stand the bottle upright for a couple of hours before careful decanting. This is a good vintage to have after a good dinner accompanied by a rich fruit tart or with mature cheeses

A small quinta owned by Quinta do Noval, this is a knock-out port. Full-bodied, saturated with abundant quantities of chocolate, liquorice and blackberry, and cassis fruit. Sweet tannin and stunning concentration. The wines are aromatic, and have tremendous fruit and good tannic structure. They will develop into superb, long-lasting vintage ports. . (12 x 75 cl)

Founded in 1894 by Bernardo Rodrigues de Carvalho the Quinta de Sta Eufemia is now managed by the fourth generation of the family preserving the age-old skills of winemaking and ageing. Located on the left bank of the river Douro, with over 45 hectares under vines, the vineyard produces grapes of the richest varieties. Trodden in the traditional way and fermented in vats to extract the grapes finest essences the wine is aged in oak casks before being selectively blended. (6 x 75 cl)

Quinta Do Vale Meao is owned and run by the fifth and sixth generations of the Olazabal family. Today the estate consists of 62 hectares of vines growing traditional varietals including Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cao for the range of Red wines and Port. This was the second year that Quinta Do Vale Meao produced vintage Port and it was greeted with as much enthusiasm as the 1999 vintage. In order to deliver the sophistication, complexity and style this port has been aged in new, first and second year barrels and this has produced a deep red/purple colour. The nose is showing plenty of spice and hints of dark forrest fruit. The aromas develop on the palate as the ripe fruits come to the fore showing great balance and structure in this big but stylish vintage Port. (6 x 75 cl)

Today the estate consists of 62 hectares of vines growing traditional varietals including Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cao for the range of Red wines and Port. This vintage Port has a powerful nose of herb and sweet fruit which develops on the palate. Showing good tannic structure the ripe fruit and spice give way to a sophisticated finish. (6 x 75 cl)
