Winemaker's Tasting Notes Pale straw with lime hue. Intense asparagus, fig and red currant aromas. A rich balanced palate with flavours of fig, passion fruit and fresh asparagus. Lovely long and persistent finish. Maturation Potential Wine may be consumed now or may benefit from longer maturation. Viticulture Notes Although the region exhibits a variety of microclimates, all of the growing areas within the appellation have cool night time temperatures that help to keep grape acids intact. The combination of soil diversity and cool coastal fog enables our fruit to mature slowly for ideal aroma and flavour complexities in our wines. Each one of our vineyards offers distinctive flavours to the wine and every growing season is unique. Yet, the consistency and quality of our grapes is discernible in every vintage with a spellbinding spectrum of layered flavours. The vines are grafted onto R99 rootstocks, have an average yield of 11 tons/ha and have an average age of 11-15 years. (12 x 75 cl)

Classic cabernet sauvignon: the original vines imported from France and planted on resistant rootstocks suited to local conditions. It has an appealing deep purple-ruby colour. On the nose, it is rich and perfumed, with a plush, complex array of chocolate, currant, black cherry and toasty oak aromas. On the palate it is smooth and aromatic, with a vanilla-oak personality that lends a sense of sweetness to the palate. Well-structured and well- balanced. A deeply-flavoured and lingering finish. The wine has excellent maturation potential and is the perfect accompaniment to fine meat dishes, especially roast beef, steak and robust chicken. Beautifully complements mild noble cheeses. Known initially as Rustenberg and later Alphen, this vineyard at one time belonged to the Baimsfather-Cloete family who produced the famous Constantia wines. In 1981 the estate was acquired by Hans-Joachim Schreiber who renamed it Stellenzicht or in its literal translation 'View of Stellen' . Planted between 1987 and 1992, the vineyards used to craft this wine are grown on slopes facing west and north-west and on soils originating from decomposed granite and Table Mountain sandstone. All of the grapes for this wine were harvested by hand and reached the winery at between 22.2 and 24.6 º Balling. After destalking and crushing, the mash was fermented with a selected, pure yeast culture with the juice being removed from the skins after six days. Once the fermentation was complete, the wine was drained off the primary lees and transferred to a 'resting' tank. A brief settling period preceded the transfer of the wine to a combination of large, 5000 litre French oak vats and small, 225 litre French as well as Russian-oak barrels where malolactic fermentation was completed and where it spent the next seventeen months maturing. Finally, a light egg white fining was used to 'polish' the wine before being bottled. The Cabernet Sauvignon is matured in predominantly French, but also American, oak barrels. Bright ruby hues dominate the colour while the wine displays excellent integration of peppery, vanilla oak aromas as well as ripe black currant fruit characteristics. The structure is medium to full-bodied, with soft tannins imparting elegance and the staying power to last. To complement the black berries and cassis flavours, a peppery character follows through from the nose while the wine finishes well. (12 x 75 cl)

Located in Stellenbosch, the farm of Welmoed was first granted to Governor Simon van der Stel in 1690. Over the years, many great wines have been produced in the Welmoed Cellar. Today, Welmoed maintains its proud winemaking tradition and has built up a solid reputation both in the South Africa and selected international markets with Welmoed’s distinctive carefully-crafted approach. Once harvested, the wine is pressed off skins just prior to dryness to preserve fruitiness and softness of tannins. This is followed by a malolactic fermentation after which a part of the wine is matured in French oak barrels. Care from the vineyard to the winery has produced a supple red from South Africa that oozes mulberry and cassis flavours with a silky smooth finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Excellent appealing pale straw colour. The nose shows well integrated melon, citrus flavours, as well as a little butterscotch and vanillin. Rich mouth feel with a good mid-palate and flavours of melons and spice. Lingering, elegant, refined finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Winemaker's Description A charming wine with a vivid ruby-red colour. Delicious round, raspberry and ripe fruit nose. Ripe mulberry fruit pallet elegant tannin finish and a soft fruit driven finish. Viticulture Notes Grapes are sourced from low bearing bush vines with an average age of 4-10 years with complex, well-structured fruit. Grapes were harvested at 24ºB in February. The vines are grafted on 101-14Mgt and planted on loamy clay on the lower slopes of the mountain. Maturation The wine is fermented on skins for ñ 7 days, until the juice is drawn off at 0ºballing to retain soft tannins. Maturation takes place partly in French oak barrels, and some in tank.
