Description:
L'Oizeau Shiraz is full bodied and has concentrated blackberry fruit balanced by French oak and fine-grained tannins. Like prior vintages of L'Oizeau, this wine is all about complexity and class. The palate continues the theme of complexity and savoury characters: red and black fruits, spice, earth characters, soft tannins and dusty oak. The balance is impeccable with a long, harmonious finish to the wine. L'Oizeau Shiraz is generally regarded as our flag-ship wine. L'Oizeau represents the Old World and New World influences during my wine making career. The Old World is subtlety, French oak, structure, balance and elegance; the New World is bright fruit and concentration. Sourced from premium McLaren Vale vines of ages 40 and 80 years, the Shiraz grapes were picked at optimum ripeness then traditionally vinified on skins. After pressing, the fermentation was completed in a mixture of new and older French oak. The wine was matured for a further two years in these same barrels before bottling.
