Founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto in 1880, Casa Ramos Pinto rapidly became noted, at the time, for its innovative and enterprising strategy. Aware that the quality of its wines were confined to the terrior of the wine producing Douro, Casa Ramos Pinto meticulously studied the Demarcated Region of Douro and eventually became the owners of a number of estates with very special characteristics.The objective was to ensure the control and quality of the whole production process. By perfecting its wines, Ramos Pinto created unique nectars with its own signature and in 1990, Casa Ramos Pinto became part of the Roederer Group that has enabled it to develop and promote its wines to the international market. Duas Quintas is a blend of grapes from two very special Ramos-Pinto vineyards. Quinta da Ervamoira lies in a rocky, low altitude area on the banks of the river Caa. Here the grapes grow to full maturity in the hot, dry weather, contributing density and body to the blend. About 20 miles away lie the granite-filled vineyards of the Quinta dos Bons Ares. Situated at a higher altitude, the grapes here derive fresh aromas and lively flavours from the cooler growing conditions, adding lively vivacity to the finished wine. This wine is a blend of Touriga Nacional grapes, with a small proportion of Tinta Barroca. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for six months in new oak casks and then bottled at Bons Ares, where it matures for another two years. The wine is an intense red with plum and cherry tints. On the nose, the aroma is strongly intense, revealing all of its potential at once. It is refined in the beginning with ripe plum and fresh fig. It then develops walnut, resins and pepper notes with hints of wood and mint at the end. On the palate, the attack is fresh and elegant, while it is soft and velvety with tasty bursts of fruit. The wine is full-bodied with fresh fruit such as cherry and grape and excellent tannins, but not too astringent. The wine develops well on the palate with perfect balance and long persistent finish. The colour of this wine is an intense brilliant ruby red, while it has floral and fruity aromas that are fine and elegant with fresh fruit such as grape and cherry evident, as well as a hint of vanilla. The wine has a fresh and aromatic attack, while the good acidity is set against the soft but lively tannins. Full-bodied and smooth, with a very fruity taste of cherry and blackberry, as well as a slight vanilla note at the end, the wine's finish is fresh, well balanced and persistent.. (12 x 75 cl)

A rich tawny color greets the eye, followed by a round, generous nose with fruit aromas of orange, apricot and plum rounded out by vanilla scents from old Port aging casks. The attack in the mouth is smooth and full bodied with fruity flavors juxtaposed with rich oak in excellent balance. This Tawny offers all the maturity of an aged wine while still displaying the vigor of youth. Appellation: Porto Origin: Touriga Nacional ; Tinta Roriz ; Tinta Barroca , and Touriga Francesca Fermentation: About 20% stems are added in after crushing, and the skins are pumped over during the fermentationprocess to extract maximum fruit flavors. At 77º , the must is racked off and wine brandy added to stop fermentation. Aging: Aged in wood for 10 years. (12 x 50 cl)

Tawny red with an amber hue due to its advanced maturity. Nose is spirited and nervous, with an array of fruit and nut aromas: grapefruit, apricot, almond and hazelnut, spiced with cinnamon, caramel, coffee, cocoa and rich vanilla oak. Charming and velvety on the palate, the grace of the first contact is maintained by a complex sequence of ripe, dry fruit followed by a languorous finish. Varietals: Tinta Barroca ; Touriga Francesca , Tinto Câo , and mixed old vines . Fermentation: About 20% stems are added in after crushing, and skins are pumped over during fermentation to extract maximum fruit flavors.
