The colour is a pale-gold, with hints of green. The nose shows the generous aroma of ripe Chardonnay and subtle French oak, while these flavours on the palate are complemented by the zesty influence of unwooded Semillon. Despite the full-flavour of the wine, it finishes with characteristic crispness and length. (24 x 37.5 cl)

Tyrrell 's pioneered Pinot Noir in Australia in the early 1970s.In 1972, Tyrrell 's planted 2 acres of Pinot Noir which were among the first commercial plantings of this variety in the area.The 1976 Tyrrell 's Pinot Noir was selected in the 'Gault Milleau World Dozen'in 1979, after beating wines from all over the world in the 1979 Wine Olympics in Paris. Made from selected parcels of fruit from NSW, South Australia and Western Australia. The majority of the fruit was machine harvested after which the fruit was fermented in a combination of traditional hand plunged open vats and larger potter tanks. Maturation was then carried out in predominantly French oak casks for 8 months prior to bottling. A soft but generously flavoured style of Pinot Noir with aromas of sweet berry fruit and savoury mushroom character. Generous fruit on the palate is complemented by subtle nuances of oak and smooth tannins on the finish. (6 x 75 cl)

The Vat 1 Semillon epitomises the benefits of patient bottle ageing that transforms this unoaked wine into a masterpiece. First produced in 1963 from Semillon grapes grown on our Short Flat Vineyard. Vat 1 is fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and then quietly spends a few years 'resting' in bottles. Released after 5 years bottle age, Vat 1 is a classic example of aged Hunter Semillon. (12 x 75 cl)

Vat 47 Chardonnay 1997 has deep, golden colour with a clean, fresh fruit lift and soft, creamy-toasty oak. Rich, ripe, up-front Chardonnay flavours showing fruit depth and intensity adds plenty of complexity to the front and middle palate. The wine finishes with a clean, lingering, fruit flavour with crisp, vanillin-toast overtones. (12 x 75 cl)
