Description:
Roederer Estate Anderson Valley Brut builds on the 200-year winemaking tradition established by Champagne Louis Roederer in France. The first California sparkling wine produced by Roederer, the Anderson Valley Brut has established a reputation as one of California's premier sparkling wines.
100% estate grown this wine is a blend of 70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir. This crisply elegant wine dazzles with complex pear, spice and hazelnut flavors. Fresh and lightly fruity, with great finesse and depth of flavour this is a sparkling wine to enjoy.
Part of Jackson Wine Estates, La Crema winery was founded in 1979 and quickly established itself as a pioneer for intensely flavoured Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This wine is from the Anderson Valley known for sloping hillside benches thta are blanketed by cool fog from the nearby Pacific Ocean during the heat of the summer growing season. These moderating conditions are ideal in cultivating Pinot Noir with naturally bright acidity and delicate red cherry and cranberry fruit aromas. The Anderson Valley is Mendocino’s premier growing region for Pinot Noir and this wine used the Dijon, heirloom Martini and Pommard clones to enhance the aroma and complexity. In the vineyard fruit-thinning is undertaken to remove late flowering clusters ensuring even ripening throughout the vineyards. Next the fruit is handpicked from the cool climate vineyards and delivered to the winery in small half ton bins to protect the integrity of the fruit. Once in the winery the Pinot Noir grapes are put on to a belt delivery system with sorting table to purge damaged fruit. Here only 70% of the whole berries are selected before fermentation takes place for greater fruit expression. Next a five day, 48 degree cold soak is completed before fermentation so that it enhances the silky tannin texture. Open top fermentation with cap punch downs four times daily extracts precise colour before the wine is aged 10 months in 100% French oak barrels refines the finish. Finally the Pinot Noir is bottled unfiltered and unfined to express the pure character of this great varietal. Winemaker Melissa Stackhouse had the following comments to make about this wine: 'Exotic aromas are delicate and floral with a hint of blueberry and herbal black tea. The flavours are focused on lush dark red cherry fruit which provides an enticing plush texture. Bright acidity accented by cranberry and red cherries create a seductive fruit entry that leads to a broad lingering finish.' (6 x 75 cl)
Light gold in color, Brut Premier boasts a smooth, full mouth. This elegant champagne is a delicate balance of fruit and acidity, an outstanding example of the Roederer tradition of producing wines of lean, firm structure with discreet fruit and subtle toast flavors. Generally about 65% Pinot Noir 35% Chardonnay. Blend of vintage wines, enhanced by the addition of 10% to 20% oak-aged wines from Roederer's extensive reserve cellars. Grapes used from only the finest crus with a rating of 98 or more on Champagne's regional rating scale (6 x 75 cl)
"Our top-scoring wine from this classy house deserved every point. Concentrated, fresh and yeasty with a fine mousse and biscuity complexity. Proof that at its best Champagne cannot be beaten" Andrew Catchpole The Telegraph (12 x 75 cl)
Lustrous amber yellow in colour with exuberant bubbles followed by an equally exuberant bouquet already showing signes of maturity. Unmistakably Pinot Noir nose, dominated by impressions of ripe fruits lightly steeped in alcohol . Airing reveals toasty, wooded notes that bring an even greater sense of complexity. The palate follows through with a classy, robust attack and a midpoint crispness refeclting restrained dosage that lasts all the way to the finish (6 x 75 cl)
The color of the wine is salmon-pink with gold reflections. On the nose, it has rich notes of blackberry and candied fruit. On the palate, it is very round with a creamy texture and delicate bubbles that reveal flavors of blackberries and prunes. The wine has a strong, lingering finish with well-balanced structure typical of the Pinot Noir grape. (6 x 75 cl)
