Description:
The Goats do Roam Red is a blend primarily of Shiraz and Pinotage with Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Merlot, Carignan, Gamay and Cabernet being used to achieve a consistent style across vintages. The wine was lightly oaked before being carefully blended and bottled. Vibrant brick red in colour, the wine has an attractive perfume of ripe red fruit, with a fragrant lift of liquorice and spice. The fruit follows through to the palate, with smooth, ripe tannins and nicely balanced acidity. Most of the fruit for Goats do Roam Red is sourced from a 300ha farm on the south-west-facing slopes of Paarl Mountain. This is a granite rock outcrop in the heart of the Paarl wine district, viticulturally among the most historic and influential areas of the Cape winelands.
