Description:
Situated in the Entre Deux Mers, Château La Freynelle is a 75 hectare estate, with a mixture of clay and limestone soil.
Sourced from vines planted in the early 1980's which are Single or double Guyot trained depending on the strength of the vine and density of the planting which yield 55 to 60 hl/ha. The grapes are picked at full maturity. They are destemmed then placed directly in vat and left to macerate for between 12 and 18 hours depending on the richness of the harvest. The free run juice is bled, drawing off 10% of the must to make the clairet, the remaining must becomes red wine.
The selected must is then vinified in the same way as the white wine: racked off its heavy lees, and the cold liquid is placed in vats, selected yeast are added and the temperature is controlled throughout the fermentation, stabilisation and clarification phases.
Brilliant deep pink colour with an aromatic nose reminiscent of red fruit (strawberry and cherry). Very elegant palate with a good balance between freshness, vigour, delicacy and red fruit with a clean, crisp finish.
