Description:
The Colonnara Cooperative in Cupramontana was established in 1959 and now has 183 small growers owning nearly 300 hectares. Apart from a high tech approach to vinification, production is characterised by an effectively 'Organic' approach to viticulture, using minimal treatments and only natural fertilisers.
This 100% Verdicchio is grown in piedmont at350/550 metres above sea level in the communes of Cupramontana, Monteroberto, Castelbellino, Staffolo and Apiro (Marches Region). The grapes are harvested by hand then undertake soft pressing, cleaning of the must and vinification in steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
A bright straw yellow coloured wine with greenish reflections, crystalline, and good consistency, the bouquet has scents of fresh fruit including green apple, grapefruit, kiwi, delicate and elegant floral expressions of acacia, broom and mimosa and vegetal notes of celery and sage. The initial impact of freshness and sapidity is well balanced with a persistent and pleasant aftertaste of bitter almond.
