The wine is ameliorated by a little Tempranillo in the blend, softening the Cabernet’s hard tannins. Matured for one year in American oak and then aged for a further three years in the bodega before release. The wine is full-bodied and rich, has firm, but approachable tannins and shows luscious, ripe blackcurrant & cassis fruit characters with an underlay of sweet, vanilla oak. (12 x 75 cl)

Bodegas Grimau, from Spain's Penedès, are a cava producer, but their still wines are very impressive. The white from Cataluna's indigenous Parellada, Xarel.lo, and Macabeo grapes, with the addition of a little Chardonnay, is clean and lively, with light tropical fruit and fresh citrus flavours (12 x 75 cl)

Don Eleuterio Martinez Arzok was born in Barriobusto. In 1861 he bought a house and lands in Oyon and founded the Faustino Group. At the turn of the century the vineyards were totally destroyed by phylloxera. His son Don Faustino Martinez Perez de Albeniz was born in 1904 and, in 1920, he helped his father rebuild and restore the vineyards. Faustino began bottling their wines in 1930 and by 1957 Don Julio Faustino Martinez, the third generation, took over the family business and in 1960, the Faustino brand was created in honour of his father. The Macabeo and Chardonnay grapes come from the bodega's own vineyards and this cava is aged 26 months in lattes. It is a lovely pale yellow coloured wine with powerful, complex and fruity aromas showing hints of raspberries and rose petals. The Palate is fresh, fruity and tasty, while the noticeable acidity is perfectly balanced with other flavours of this is very expressive sparkling wine, with a marked fruity finish. (12 x 75 cl)
