Description:
The domaine was founded in 1905 by Gabriel Archimbaud and is now run by Maurice Vache and his two sons Jean-Michel and Frederic. The Archimbaud's and Vache's are among the longest established families in Vacqueyras.
The Estate is part of a property dating back to the 12th century and belonged to 'Les Chevaliers de l'Ordre des Templiers'. Additionally, on the property sits an ancient Moorish Tower, the Tower of Sarrazine that unfortunately today is in ruins.
Today, this highly rated property now owns 25 hectares in Vacqueyras and 15 hectares in Gigondas. The vines planted are 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre and aged between 40-50 years old, and the annual production is only 8,800 to 10,000 cases and therefore this wine is produced in limited quantities.
The wines are vinified traditionally with no oak ageing and the Vacqueyras Cuvée de Templiers is a rare wine made from only Syrah, the finesse and superb varietal definition of spicy fruit is more reminiscent of Hermitage than Southern Rhone.

Additionally, on the property sits an ancient Moorish ruin, the Tower of Sarrazine after which this wine is named. Today, this highly rated property now owns 25 hectares in Vacqueyras and 15 hectares in Gigondas. The Gigondas vineyard is very stony and low yielding while the vines are between 30 and 50 years old. The vines planted are 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre and the annual production is only 8,800 to 10,000 cases and therefore this wine is produced in limited quantities. Gigondas Tour Sarrazine is a blend of 80% Grenache with some Syrah and Mourvedre with longer ageing before release. It shows great richness with a developed flavour of spice and dried fruits, very long and supple in the mouth. (12 x 75 cl)
The Cave des Vignerons de Vacqueyras is one of the leading co-operatives in the region for modern, up to date winemaking. Initially floral, the nose shows red fruit and spices aromas. In mouth the wine has a certain roundness from the full fruit flavours.
Organic. A brilliant new Vacqueyras from Fernand Chastan, producer of our new Cotes du Rhone and our Gigondas. Intense and dense, this is a seriously complex wine. Spicy and full-bodied, with masses of chunky but well-defined chewy red fruits. Good food wine. (12 x 75 cl)
A blend of various vineyards dotted around the old town of Beaune. Some older vines give this wine added power and complexity and enhance the smooth raspberry aromas before delivering an intense rich finish. (12 x 75 cl)
Made using a blend of 60% Carignan, 30% Grenache and 10% Merlot grown in south-west France and vinified by the co-operatives of Argeliers and Cuzy to produce a soft, easy-drinking style. (12 x 75 cl)
A light, dry, easy-drinking wine using traditional southern grapes of Colombard and Ugbi Blanc, vinified in a modern style by the Co-operative at Cazaubon and blended by Alain Grignon. (12 x 75 cl)
