Under new ownership and management, Franschhoek Vineyards has shed the old co- op image and is well into top gear in a drive to make quality wines through the Forge Mill label. New wine making equipment installed for the 2001 vintage has been put to good use by the winemaker, Deon Truter. The aim is to produce clean, well made wines with true varietal character that have good weight of fruit with easy drinking finishes. The new manager, Daan Coetzee, has produced a comprehensive range for export from a selection of the best grapes. This Sauvignon Blanc shows excellent varietal characteristics - ripe lime, fig and gooseberry with hints of asparagus. On the palate it is fresh and zesty, with aromas of cut grass, green peppers, asparagus and gooseberry on the nose.
