Jean-Michel Gaunoux has brought extraordinary energy and drive to the estate he took over in 1990 after having previously worked with his father Francois. The cellars are in Meursault and he now has 6 hectares of vines based in Puligny, Pommard and Volnay.
Jean Michel Gaunoux has developed wine that are classically rich, stylish and opulent with intense balancing acidity a result of the deliberately low yields in the vineyards and hands-off approach to winemaking, with little racking and an extremely judicious use of new oak.
The 2002 vintage is a typical yellow coloured Chardonnay with nice aromas, medium to full bodied wine and a great finish.

Jean-Michel is a rising star in Cote-Rotie. He is slowly but surely building his array of vineyard sites by keeping his ear to the ground and renting quality sites when they become available. His family do own some useful sites, but his grandfather and father turned them over to apricot production after the war, when apricots fetched a better price than Cote-Rotie! These are very finely crafted, very natural wines. He uses around 5% viognier in the blend. (12 x 75 cl)
